Re: Q of the D
I have 2 children that are now in school f/t. There dad and worked different shifts. We never had daycare. My FH wants one kid. I know financially we can't stop working, he doesn't make enough. I already pay child support to my ex. I wanted to get certified to do billing from home. I went back and got another assoc in medical adm. I need to get certified though. FH is looking to do same also. We need medical coverage, so one of us will have to keep a job with coverage. We also started a business. Realistically though, he will have to get a night shift job. His weekends are already different from mine. So 4 days we are alright now. It will work out though somehow. Childcare is insane. If I were to put my daughter in summer camp for one week, I would almost break even with my pay! I would pay than my pay to put both in camp.
Re: Q of the D
That's a question I have been thinking about a lot lately and don't really know. I am not the type of person who can stay at home all day but I'm not sure FH would want to do it either. I can't imagine sending my babies to day care run by people I don't know and don't have family that lives close by enough to drop them off everyday. So, I have no idea, I guess this is why I'm not ready to have kids yet....
Re: Q of the D
Id love to stay home...but our goal is to buy a home and we will both have to work to afford all that goes along with that

Re: Q of the D
I would love to stay home if the time was right. If I can't when the time comes my parents will watch them.
Re: Q of the D
I will probably stay home for the 1st 3months and then return to work. Ideally I would stay at home, but I don't think we will be able to afford that. Hopefully we will have a family member his parents (FFIL is retired and FMIL was a stay at home mom) certain days, and my mom (on days when she is off) to watch the children.
Re: Q of the D
Wow. I am so surprised so many women want to stay home. I think its great. I feel the same way. I would actually like to stay home until the kids are much older. I like my work, but its exhausting and I want to be able to completely dedicate myself to my family. But finances are a real issue. I think its sad that there are so many of us that want to devote ourselves to our families, but money gets in the way.
Re: Q of the D
Im going to be a teacher so i have summers off....and we have a trusted friend who offered to watch them.
Re: Q of the D
Ideally, i'd want FH and I to be financially stable enough for me to stay at home until our child is old enough to go to school...

Re: Q of the D
i have a child already.. and at the moment i am not working. but for the past 4 years i worked and my mother watched her for me. which is what i will do when i go back to work also.
Re: Q of the D
I would love to stay at home and take care of my children but I would have to see our situation at that time.
Re: Q of the D
I get 3 months off for maternity leave...but after that I'm going back to work. DH's sched let's him work three 12 hour shifts a week, so he gets 2 days off. My shifts start really early and i'm done by 4:30 the latest and home by 5. On the days when we both work, we'll have the grandparents watch the baby. They already told us to start setting up the guestroom for them!
