What is your biggest regret in life? Don't say nothing! You all have them, whether its not going away to school, or not buying those espadrilles last week at marshalls! Share!

Re: Q of the D: Part II

my biggest regrets are not being able to voice my opinions to people. and not being able to say no..

my regrets come from not being able to turn people down and not being able to tell them what I really feel because it may hurt their feelings... I think wayy to much and care wayy to much to hurt peoples feelings.. sometimes the truth is needed and I cant say or do it!

... not going away to school. I didn't make many friends at St. John's. In fact, I only speak to one person I met from there now and he and I were involved for over 5 years. I got into a bunch of really good schools but I chose St. John's because they gave me a huge academic scholarship.

ha! i went to SJU also and i made ONE friend, yes ONE
i went there with a few people i knew previously so i dont count them but it was so funny when i was doing my guest list i only had my one friend on there and even her, we only talk online!!!
it was my fault though, i went to school and came home i didnt really make an effort since i had my old friends and DH

how long ago did you go to St. Johns?

I graduated in January of 2005, but I walked in May.

oh ok my Fh graduated 2002 i think or was it 2001 lol why cant i remember right now hahaha

It's ok! I was there in the fall of 2001 (Freshman year). I lived on campus, but I was never there. I hated my room mates so much! I was in a triple and I was 'sexiled' from the room almost every night by one of them. So, I hopped a train and spent the night with friends at NYU and Pace. It worked out well since none of my classes started until after 11AM.

well his first year of college he did go away for school he went to quinnipiac, then after went to st. johns but he lived not too far so just commuted there. Well must've been fun to also go to other schools and hang out so thats not bad.

It was great Freshman year, but I just wish that I had gone away to be with my friends from High School. We are all still close (3 of them are in my bridal party), but I would of loved to been with them at college. I was always so lonely while at St. John's because I had no one to talk to. I think a lot of my boyfriend choices were based on being lonely and bored.

i think my biggest regret was 1. not really thinking about what i wanted to do as far as college goes and waste time and money!!

2. not be organized and save when it comes to money! i have a lot of unneccassary debt!

Yeah. It was funny. My suitemates would always call me the 'player' because I was seeing a different guy every week. Basically I would go on a dinner date with a guy, find him annoying and go out with someone else.

HAHA! Yeah. That part was fun though. I think that's how I gained so much weight. Too many free dinners.

Re: Q of the D: Part II

I have many regrets. LOL

1) I regret partying too much in college. My GPA could have been better and I wouldnt have had to struggle so much to get into grad school.

2) I wish I would have been more independent from my parents. They are very controlling and lay guilt trips on me all the time. I hate that.

3) I regret going to Webster Hall Aug.7th 2004. Had I not gone, I would have never hooked up w. FH. I love him and everything, and I am happy to be w. him....BUT it has been a lot of work staying together. Our families dont really get along and my parents dont care about him. If I hadn't gone, I would be w. someone else who prob. would have made my life easier.

4) I regret getting fat in college. The stupid weight never came off. And it's so hard to lose weight these days. Especially when everyone at work is munching on a cookie!

5) I regret buying my car. I should have leased.

6) I regret buying my house. I should have bought a co-op, instead of dealing w. tenants.

7) I regret being mean to my Ex-boyfriends. They didnt deserve it.

8) I regret not going to dancing school. I would have been great.

9) I regret some of the posts I have put up on threads that were misinterpreted and ended up hurting/upsetting some brides. It was never my intention.

10 ) I regret not studying abroad.

... I think I will stop her for now... before I get really depressed! (lol)

Yelly- Prof. Phagan was her name. lol too funny.

Do you remember a fat guy student who whenever he read british lit he would do a british accent?

Oh yeaaaaaa, Phagan. Now I remember.

I don't remember him... but if it was in Jennings class, that is because I was too busy taking *11* pages of notes I went into the final with an A and got a C- in the class.... she scared me.

Lol.. I still have all my notebooks from that class. I spent too much time and risked carpal tunnel taking those notes..

Not taking HS seriously and getting really bad grades because I cut all the time, never studied and didn't pay attention in class ( I was too busy being the class clown) .....basically, my own nightmare (since I teach now). I WISH I could find some of those teachers and apologize to them for being such a horrible child and WISH I could retake classes, get the scholarships I was capable of getting and actually getting into the college I wanted to then.

I hope you didn't mean this the way it sounds.

The best things in life are NEVER easy.

I'm going to assume this didn't come out the right way...because if you DO mean it the way it sounds, you should seriously reevalute getting married. Sorry if that sounds preachy...but my fear for you is that if you think it's hard NOW, think about how it will be after you buy a house, or add children into the mix, etc. etc..

being in a relationship for years at a young age. I mean i had fun and did alot of things but at the same time i think i missed out on alot of things my single friends were doing. Go away on more trips with just friends, and many more things. Or i look at my Fh who did do alot of that and had this amazing time in his early 20's and i wish i did as much, not to compare but just to have those experiences for myself. I did go out and do things and yes more than some ppl but still different in a way. I felt he also held back in other ways too, not anything where he did it on purpose but just happened.

At the same time i learned alot about relationships from that experience. Honestly if i didnt go through that relationship i would've been VERY different with FH and maybe not done things the same way. I might've not been as understanding with his condition and not know how to make it work. So we might've not stayed together bc when i was first with my ex, i was quick to fight and argue and be a b*tch, i didnt know how to handle things properly. I became so sick and tired of living that way bc of going through it for years with my ex that i made sure with FH to not repeat the same cycle.

but i still wish i did more haha

ETA: i dont think its wrong for everybody to be in a relationship for a young age, just personally for me i look back and wish i didnt get into that.

I agree on this too! I was with the same guy through most of HS and although we did have TONS of fun, I feel as if I would've had a DIFFERENT type of 'teenager' fun if I was single. Don't get me wrong...for a first 'real' relationship, it was a really good one considering we were way too young to even understand an ounce of what love really is, but I just think that I would've focused more on school and other things if I were single.

Re: Q of the D: Part II

Mine is that I am a doormat. I let people walk all over me and dont say anything back - even if they really hurt me badly. I never stand up for myself and dont have the confidence to do the things I really want to inlife, esp since I have the talent to do them.

My middle and highschool years are a sore sore memory, bc I was afraid of being myself. everyone hated me - and I never stood upformyself. It was really hard living with a heroin addicted brother who stole from you everyday and bounced from rehab to rehab - never knowing if he would live from one day to the next. i cried and cried - my parents marriage was in shambles bc of it and i was in the middle. And everyone at school thought i cried bc i wanted attention. I never once stood up and said hey - you dont knjow what I go home to - or shut up. I had no idea what to do with myself, and bc of that i was never me. I was never the person who is so beautiful and talented - just tormented dealing with addiction of a family member at home. Very few ppl wanted to know the new me - but those few ppl are my dear friends to this day.

I am a great person and no one knew it. That is my biggest regret.

my biggest regrets are:

1. slacking my first year and a half at college. my GPA would have been at least .5 higher if I hadn't been too busy skipping class.

2. not sticking w/ the teaching program in college. i left because i didn't want to spend an extra semester at school. what a dumb a$$!!! instead now i'm stuck in an industry that i hate, and just have no idea what to do. going back to school at this point is not an option

Sorry, but I have to write this because I am concerned....maybe you and FH shouldn't get married so soon and hold off a little if you feel that way. If things are like that now, they won't change just because you get married. I hope you choose what makes you happy!

My biggest regret is not spending more time with my mother while she was alive. She got sick with lung cancer and I knew it wasn't good and my dad even said I should spend more time with her and I didn't. I know she loved me but I wish I could have shown her some more...
