Is that selfish? Probably...but its so hard to visualize an end to world hunger. How would it happen? I guess I need more details!

that was exactly my thoughts. I couldn't let kids starve and die everyday just for me and especially not when we just might live long and healthy lives.

So what about the bums on the streets. They still dont have a place to live...yet they are well fed?

There are so many large issues (world hunger being one) and I guess it is hard for all of us to see that because we dont really witness it first hand...and that is why many chose #1. Anyway I am just thinking out loud here.

well what about the kids in other countries who are starving and everyday die. I was just watching this thing on tv yesterday in africa, this one man found a way to make so many meals out of this one fruit so that the children don't starve. But they showed the shacks they live in and the horrible conditions. For me i would think about those small kids who go without food. I wouldn't let a kid starve because a bum might get fed but still have nowhere to live. There are alot of other issues in this world its true. But doesnt mean if there was a way to fix one issue you shouldn't just because there would still be problems regardless. I wouldnt say no forget it dont feed starving kids around the world bc a bum might not have somewhere to sleep. Plus they can get fed, there are shelters that provide them with food and a bed. Of course the system can be a bit messed up and not as easy for everybody but many also dont want to go to these shelters for some reason.

It is not something we see in our daily lives, but it is showed to us and we know that kids die everyday from not eating. Statistics say that every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger. Even in the US, 1 out of every 8 kids goes to bed without food. So in the time it took me to write this, a few people died of hunger

theres nothing wrong with picking choice #1...everyone is different and will make a different decision.

i actually think i would choose two and I'm not at all unselfish. I just don't think i'm significant enough to outweigh world hunger.

but i will be selfish and say I would hope I'd die before the rest of my family; I don't care about living long but I want them to all be healthy and not suffer in any way.

Unequivocally #2...I believe in karma and I don't think there is much bigger of a karma boost than that. The world is not a vacuum, if certain things are improved in one facet the benefits radiate out to everyone even in a small way. Why only help a few people...who really may not even end up needing the help...than many people who absolutely need it? Just a thought...the person you may save from starvation may be the scientist that cures any ailment your family may experience

very interesting way to look at it and very well said.

Its crazy when you read the statistics. I was reading this one site, and I honestly had to read the numbers again because i couldn't believe it. About 25,000-30,000 kids die everyday because of this. Then theres other statistics about people who die because of the water and sanitation in their area. Then kids who die because they were not given shots they needed.
