I know... nothing on 1010wins, news 1... only on Fox. Maybe that's b/c it's in the FOX building??
I'm thinking it's not that big of a deal....not that a chemical explosion isn't serious...but if it was contained and under control (aside from the one burn victim) and not disrupting anything, than it's not big news. Its when these things disrupt traffic and stuff like that that it becomes big news...

December 17, 2007 -- Firefighters responded to a chemical explosion this morning on the 45th floor of a midtown highrise. The incident at 1211 Sixth Avenue left one person injured. Three floors below the site were evacuated. It was unclear what type of chemical was involved. 'The fire department is on the scene and in control of the building,' officials said. The 44th, 43rd and 42nd floors were evacuated

I work up the avenue from where this happened and from one of the partner's corner offices I can see straight down 6th Ave.
from around 47th to 49th is completely closed off by firetrucks. People above 49th and below 47th are still being allowed to walk around, so it shouldn't be something that is affecting more than just that isolated area.

The are reports that the explosion happened in a cooling station in the building.

It says now online that something happended on the 45th floor in one of the cooling stations? I'm assuming a cooling station is where the HVAC is located? Seems like an isolated accident, which is good....

FH is an engineer and deals with all those things, i get scared sometimes bc there can be incidents...not to mention how many times he has gotten electrocuted and not like a small outlet getting electrocuted but higher voltage...once i read how this happened i got scared ... they have told him now to stop doing certain things since hes the project engineer and he has others to do all these things for him but he doesn't care, if theres a problem he prefers to do it himself rather than wait for others or anything like that.

They just talked ab out it on the news, it was near the FOX NY building on 6th ave. They didnt say anyone was injured
