We're both RC and go to church together when we do get there. Not really religious in a go to mass every Sunday way, but believe in God, have faith and do practice though.
It hasn't affected our wedding. If we are blessed with children, we're raising them RC too.

Re: QOTD 05/19/09!
I am Catholic and not very religious. FH is wiccan and very religious. My dream was to get married in my church ever since I was little. He has agreed as long as we can have a wiccan ceremony as well. We're going to try to get a wiccan priest into the church, but if it's not possible, we'll have 2 ceremonies on 2 different days.
He's amazing about this because the religion matters a lot to him, but the church matters a lot to me.

Re: QOTD 05/19/09!
FH and I were both raised Catholic.
Today, neither of us agree with most of the teachings of the Catholic church and we both had no interest in going with a religious ceremony for our wedding.
Of course our moms were kind of upset by this... I looked into churches for a while but decided it wasn't worth the headache it would have caused with precanna and the rushing from church to RH since I'm having an afternoon wedding... my mom understood, his mom is still sending me emails asking if I have talked to a priest yet (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr).

Re: QOTD 05/19/09!
Good question!
Are you and FH the same religion? Nope, Im Jewish and he's Catholic
How has it affected/changed wedding plans? Um, honestly, not too much, Ive always mostly dated guys who werent Jewish so I guess I kind of knew and imagined that I wouldnt be having a Jewish ceremony. That's fine...I actually really love the idea of having this unique ceremony with some elements of both religions. We are getting married at a Unitarian Chapel and I love that I found this since it really incorporates all relgions but we can still get married inside like I imagined walking down an aisle and going up to the alter, etc.
Do you think it will cause issues in the future? I don't because we made a conscience decision to talk about it way before even being engaged. (unlike my friend and her bf who are going through a lotttt right now since they are 5 years deap into their relationship, etc..thats another story). I would have never thought that our relationship would have been affected but we did need to discuss how to raise our children witch I am very lucky was a very easy discussion.
What's the best thing about the religious differences? Well my mom always raised me to really know about Christian holidays and even wanted me to be included so I would always get 1 little Christmas gift, do Easter Eggs...sillly things but it made me feel included with my piers who were mostly not Jewish. I grew up and went to St. Johns and was all around very accepting and knowledable about other religions. I like that I acutally get to be part of a family now that actually is part of the religion which celebrates these holidays and traditions. Also, its really awesome that we dont have to split our time on holidays except for Thanksgiving (non religious).

Re: QOTD 05/19/09!
Fh is an atheist and I'm ...well im spirtual but not religious... both of us rasied Roman Catholic
I think im actually going to end up getting into UU (Uniterian Universalist) at somepoint, prob when we have kids, so they have something to use as a jumping off point to develope their beliefs. I like them cuz they seem to be open to whatever you learned and/or blieved and aparently their children's sunday school classes or whatever teach kids about all the religions and dont judge any of them. I like that alot!!
FH agreed to get married in a church at first cuz he knew i wanted to, but I wanted to for my parents sake, not mine own so I decided to get married at RH by the judge that married all our friends. That was sepcial to us and my parents got over it eventually
We tpyically agree to disagree about god and other religion stuff, He says I can choose to raise the kids whatever I feel is right as long as he doesn't have to lie and say he agrees with me. I am fine with that... no one should have to lie about their beliefs they kids will be given the right to make their own choices and develope their ownb beliefs since we both did not have that choice.
