Do you plan on doing a bouquet toss or anniversary dance at your wedding? Are there any other traditions you plan on doing?I was looking over my guest list and I realized that most of my guests are somewhat older, married, or at least in a serious relationship. I also wanted to toss the bouquet, but I don't think I'll have enough single girls to catch it! I'm not sure about the garter toss either. I'd feel weird with both sets of our parents watching that, but I'll leave that up to FH.
We're having an interfaith ceremony, so we'll be incorporating traditions from Catholic and Jewish ceremonies. I'm pretty excited about that! PS - if anyone knows a Rabbi who does interfaith ceremonies, please let me know!

No bouquet toss here--whenever I'm at a wedding it makes me REALLY uncomfortable for some reason! Also, most people who will be at my wedding are married and/or older. My FH and I saw the sand pouring ceremony and will be incorporating that into our ceremony and display it at the reception and then in our future home :)

We will be doing bouquet toss. FH will be removing the garter, but no garter toss. I really don't like the idea of some guy you don't know rubbing his hands up your leg. I couldn't put any of my friends through this
hmm..I have to think about any other things we may be doing. I'll get back to this. haha

We're not doing the bouquet toss. DEFINITELYYYYY not the garter toss, not with my father there.
But most of our guests are married or engaged, so there's not a lot of point in doing this.I want to do the anniversary dance, I think it's so cute! Neither of us have grandparents or elderly guests though, so I'm not sure how long it would actually go on.
For ceremony, we're doing a Catholic Mass. I'm never sure what's optional and what's standard, but I want to do the unity candle!

I love the idea of the anniversary dance, but a lot of our friends are young and single. I think we'll do the bouquet toss, but definitely not the garter. It's a little raunchy for me.

We are unsure we have a few single people but things could change between now and then. So we are unsure.

we are going to invite all couples on the dance floor for an anniversary dance and the couple together the longest will receive a little something rather than tossing a bouquet or garter! i'm having a brooch bouquet so a toss of that would hurt! lol

Oh no I am gonna have to think of what to do now.. We are having a Catholic Mass and will be doing a unity candle.

I haven't even gotten that far LOL. I think we'll probably do the BoK/garter toss. Its fun and kitchy. Also... FH and I would probably do something hilarious when it comes to him going up my dress lol

We decided not to have the bouquet and garter toss. I had completely forgotten about having an anniversary dance but I love the idea!

I'm doing a boquet toss, but we're not doing the garter. I personally don't like it and it makes me feel uncomfortable watching lol. I would like to do the anniversary dance, I love that idea. Haven't given it much thought yet though.

I never quite understood the garter toss. For such an elegant celebration, it just seems raunchy. As much as I'd like to not do a bouquet toss, I think my mother will want me to do it, and what's the point in arguing about something so inconsequential?

I don't think I'm gonna do the bouquet toss, but what is an anniversary dance?
An anniversary dance is when all of the married couples are invited out to the dance floor. While the couples are dancing, the DJ/band leader makes announcements like 'ok all couples married less than 1 year please leave the dance floor'. They work their way up until the couple married the longest is the only couple left. I went to a wedding that did this instead of the bouquet toss. Instead of tossing the bouquet, the bride gave her bouquet to the couple left standing. It was cute!
I never thought of doing both. I figured it had to be one or the other. hmm....I need to give this more thought too!

I've some some pics of this idea on Pinterest. Where do you go about buying one of these though?

FH and I were JUST (literally) talking about garter/bouquet tosses and I'm not sure if I want to do either. I keep going back and forth. One thing I am considering (if I can get FH) on board is doing an Irish hand-fasting during the ceremony. I think its cute and symbolic and allows me to pride being Irish :)

I dont think I will be doing any of the fun traditions that you mentioned. I dont really like the bouquet or garter toss, nor do I think I would have enough singles to do it! I absolutely love anniversary dances, but two of our grandmas are widows and I feel sick thinking about them having to sit it out. Particularly my grandma, who has won the anniversary dance at many weddings including my sister's wedding. Since then my grandfather has passed, and I dont want her to be sad at all that day. I think what I might do is privately speak to my FH's grandparents-- who would be the longest married and are truly inspirational in their relationship-- I want to let them know we look up to them without upsetting anyone.

I am so on the fence. FH wants to do it no matter how many people stand up but I am afraid of it looking awkward...Oh what to do, what to do!?

At this point, we're not doing the bouquet toss or the garter toss. Our DJ mentioned that the anniversary dance would be a good idea, so we may do that. I can never make up my mind about anything. So, we might actually end up doing a bouquet toss. who knows? lol
