Hi everyone! So as I was contemplating my question for today, I got looking at my engagement ring and realized how much I love it and can't live without it! So this leads me to my QOTD:
For your engagement ring, were you very involved with how it would look or did you leave it up to your FH, FH's how did you handle it??? Post a picture if you can!
I wasn't very involved in choosing my e-ring. I had told FH that I wanted either round stone or princess cut. It had to be either white gold or platinum since I don't wear yellow gold. I never told him how many stones or anything like that. I just gave him the basics. He sold his BMW to buy my ring so when he was in the process of selling the car he was looking at rings on-line, in stores and in magazines. He went to Kay jewelers the day he sold the car and went looking for my ring. He found it right in the case and it was the last one they had of this ring! So it was meant to be! I can't believe how well he did picking it out!

We went together and the Plan was that I was going to give him some clues... BUT i fell in love with MY ring, so he got that one... He loves it too!!!
I showed pictures of what I wanted and FH thinks he came close (but not really)
The diamond is his mom's and I don't plan on wearing it after the wedding. We hope to pass it on to one of the children- since I am the third generation to get the diamond.

when it came to the ring i had given FH an idea of what i wanted. I know i wanted a three stone ring with paves around it...
Fh went to FFILs jewler and had it custom made.... the funny thing is that the night he proposed we were walking through the diamond district ( before he proposed) and i had picked out randomly an extremely similar ring... in a window.. I couldnt be happier with the ring he made

my fh got it made for me- but he knew I liked this cut of diamond, and that I wanted something a little different and antique-y looking
FH asked me to show him what i liked. so i did and we looked together. when it came to look in actual stores, i fell in love with the Verragio brand of rings and I found a store in NYC that carried their brand. When we went, I fell in love with two rings but not completely. I asked if they could custom make it by taking pieces of both rings and putting them together. and he said that would be no problem. in the end, i left the final decision of those two rings to FH and he surprised me by having them custom make it for me! and he picked out the center stone. i adore my ring!!!!!!!!!!!! there are diamonds all along the inside of the prongs and the front and sides as well

Great Question!!!
I am so in love with my engagement ring. FH did it all on his own (well with his sister and her husband). The center stone was his mothers so this ring means more to me than anything I have ever gotten in my life. Tearing up as we speak.

We went to a few shops together to look at rings. We went to Jareds first, and I loved one setting there (you buy the diamond and the setting separately there), the wrote it down and we went to a few other places. Nothing was quite like that one setting. So we went back, they started looking around for it and I said, well can I just try on this one here if you can't find it? So he pulled it out of the cabinet, looked at the number and said, oh, here it is, this is that ring. So I said, then it is the ring I want. Then the guy said, I have a diamond you might like, so he placed it on the setting, and it looked beautiful. We tried a few other diamonds on it, but that one looked best. FH had to put a small deposit on it then and there because the diamond was part of a traveling thing, so it was going to another store in a day. He really didn't want to do so much in front of me but it's the way it worked out! I actually even knew when he picked it up because he kept the receipt out in the open, and of course I noticed when it was gone! And of course I figured out the day he would propose. This is why my shower won't be a surprise. LOL.

I showed FH what type of style I wanted from pics that I found online. I also told him what size I wanted (not too big, not too small) With the help of my mother I got my dream ring, round stone with a baguette on either side. Love it! Can't wait to pic out a nice wedding band for it! Mine looks similar to this ring except it's a 4 prong and the center stone is a little smaller.

I had nothing to do w/ it, we had talked about marriage a couple times but never any ring specifics. He custom designed it all by hisself & I wouldnt change a thing!!!
For my engagement ring i told him kind of what i wanted and then picked the color of the ruby i wanted...everything else was him

I picked out my own ring and my own diamond and FH payed for it. Then I asked him not to tell me when he left the deposit so I wouldn't know when he had it in his possession.

I gave FH a general idea of what i wanted - basically by making him sit oon the computer and looking at different styles. My mom's jeweler had this ring that i totally felll in love with and I sent him a pic of it to see if he can find it anywhere or buy it from my mom's jeweler or even find anything remotely close to it. Well he ended up getting it replicated and bam - there's my ring!!! exactly what i wanted!!!!!

I want to say I do not like diamonds. I think they are plain. I did wanted a white gold pave ring with a princess cut. But a small diamond. Something like this.
But I got a plain ring GOLD ring with a ROUND diamond. ack: Why he got me gold, I don't know. All my jewelry he's ever gotten me was white. I guess I cannot complain, I got engaged in front of Cinderella's castle at WDW! :

my FH told me he wanted me to pick it out because I'm the one who has to wear it for the rest of my life! ha! smart guy! lol. I picked out the setting because it was SO beautiful and SO different from all of my friends. I'm the only one wit h a princess cut! I'm obsesssed with it!
