***QOTD- 10-20-10***

Original post by aquag12283

Hi everyone! So as I was contemplating my question for today, I got looking at my engagement ring and realized how much I love it and can't live without it! So this leads me to my QOTD:

For your engagement ring, were you very involved with how it would look or did you leave it up to your FH, FH's how did you handle it??? Post a picture if you can!

I wasn't very involved in choosing my e-ring. I had told FH that I wanted either round stone or princess cut. It had to be either white gold or platinum since I don't wear yellow gold. I never told him how many stones or anything like that. I just gave him the basics. He sold his BMW to buy my ring so when he was in the process of selling the car he was looking at rings on-line, in stores and in magazines. He went to Kay jewelers the day he sold the car and went looking for my ring. He found it right in the case and it was the last one they had of this ring! So it was meant to be! I can't believe how well he did picking it out!

I actually insisted that I though e rings were a waste of money!

He was working in NY this summer, and I was in DC- he saved all his money and went to my parent's jeweler with my mom and my sister many times this summer, and they chose a setting that the jeweler had made and then my sister chose the diamond!

I don't like a lot of bling, and I am a tad on the quirky side- I like traditional looks with a contemporary twist. I LOVE the split band! He did a great job (although my sister totally takes credit)!

It was a total surprise!

Mine was a total surprise! He actually asked my mom to go with him to jewelers where he ended up designing it with the jeweler! I've always loved marquise stones and the antique setting so he hit it dead on! I'll be using my grandmother's wedding ring - the jeweler that adesigned the e-ring will also be fitting my grandmothers ring!

I went with FH to the jewelers to pick it out. But he went back and purchased it without me there and completely surprised me with the proposal. He also got me a larger centerstone then we had originally picked out! I absolutely love it!

FH made it seem like he was buying me a colored stone ring, something thats like 300$ and asked me what styles i liked and we went in a few stores and i always showed him the squareish-ones in a diamond halo and band, he knew i wanted a cushion stone cause i had said that previously and he got this custom made for me... and says he added the split shank cause he wanted my ring to be unique and knew i'd want that too, and boyy was he rightt
