QOTD 10.30.13

Good Morning ladies we are half way through the week.

Today's question is about the proposal...
Did FH ask your Father and/or Mother for your hand in marriage? Did anyone else know he was going to propose?

FH did ask my Father, while we were visiting my sister in North Carolina, and my Dad blurted it out in front of everyone before he left. Needless to say I was ecstatic!! Apparently he was telling people at his brother’s wedding 2 weeks before he proposed, which makes sense now, some of the cousins I had never met before kept hugging me.

Re: QOTD 10.30.13

FH asked my parents so they knew. My parents are divorced so he spoke with them both separately. So my stepparents knew too. My sister knew and his aunt knew. It was clear his other family didn't know. We were on vacation with them (10 of them!) and when they met up with us after they were all like it was so fun.

All my FIL's, siblings included, knew about it and a few other randoms, but no one else from my side of the family since he proposed in front of all of them! It was a surprise for us all!!! haha

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

FH didn't ask my parents in advance, but seeing as we had been together for five years so they all knew that marriage was where we were heading eventually.
It was nice that when I told my family they were all surprised with me! I couldn't stop crying I was so happy! haha

FH asked my dad who then told my mom. I'm pretty sure my mom told everyone like my brothers/aunt/her friends lol but it was all a surprise to me. FH's family and friends all knew about it too. Somehow everyone managed to keep it a secret from me!

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

FH asked both of my parents to come over to our house and asked for permission and showed them the ring one night when I was working late in NJ. He showed his parents the ring and told them but those were the only people who knew. He even saw his sister the night before he proposed and did not tell her a thing. So the rest of our families and friends were completely shocked when it happened.

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

FH spoke with my Dad and Step-Dad a few days before to let them know what He was planning to do. He didn't really 'ask' lol but did let them know beforehand so they were aware of his intentions. I really appreciated that he did that. It might be considered old school, but of course its still the right thing to do.

Re: QOTD 10.30.13

He came to my parents' house on Monday, June 3rd while I was out with a friend. My sister, two brothers and parents were there while he spoke and asked my dad officially.

Other immediate family members knew but they all thought it would happen the following week on the 11th. However the ring came early and so he proposed on the 5th, just two days after asking my dad since the ring came early! So when I texted my mom and FH's sister they were shocked lol. My sister was with us filming behind a tree when FH proposed

By the way, the most ironic part? When my friend and I were out to eat together and I was completely in the dark about FH being at my parents house asking for their blessing, we talked for a good half hour about when he might propose!! (seriously didn't think it would be until Christmas).

FH 'asked' my dad, and by asked I mean he basically told him my dad loves my FH so there were no issues there. He told his mom and dad too, and he actually accidentally texted me he was going to propose 2 weeks before he did it so I knew too! Haha

My fiancé came over my house while I was out and asked my mom and dad. My brother was home and overheard everything so he knew too. I'm almost positive my fiancé told his parents as well.

I kind of knew though because he heavily hinted at it. So it wasn't a surprise proposal.

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

FH asked my parents and my grandparents about 3 months before he proposed. He had actually planned on going to my dad's job to ask but an opportunity presented itself at one of my family parties so he asked them all on the same day. He also told my MOH that night because he wanted to talk to her about the ring I have no idea where I was when all of that was happening.

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

Absolutely no one knew before me LOL.. It was so out of the blue and all of a sudden. When he asked me though he said no one was aloowed to know before he made it official and asked my dad.. So we got engaged on a Thursday day night. That Sunday the plan was to go to my parents. I gave my mom a heads up.. I also told my MOH cause I lived with her at the time and told ehr EVERYTHING.. I cheated. That Saturday we also told one of our friends while we were out.. Sunday came and we went to my parents hourse.. He was so nervous he had a sweat mark on his butt!! LMAO.. My dads reaction was the same as mine.. Really?? LOL but yes he was dead serious and my dad wished us well. Then we told his mother. The mother of his child was told next and lastly almost a week later we finally got a hold of his father.. Who really didnt know what to say..speechless that M'r. i am never getting married' was getting married! LOL.. He just turned to me and said you really must be special welcome to the family! And after that it was Facebook official.

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

FH did ask my parents before hand, about 2 months before, and he told EVERYONE before me. I was kind of mad (hardly) because there was no one that I could tell!! Everyone kept saying 'Yay! We knew'. We got engaged on a family trip to Italy and his family apparently kept hassling him to get it over with because they thought the secret was going to spill any minute. It didn't exactly spill, but there were hints. One night that FH attempted to proprose, he said we were going to go for a walk and his cousin said oh I will come with you, and his sister leaned over to her, whispered, and she said OH, ok nevermind....I was suspicious at that point but luckily it didnt happen that night anyway! However, that night his family was in the lobby of the hotel with bottles of champagne waiting for us...oops!

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

I pretty much told FH to not bother asking. I don't have that relationship with my dad and since he let me pick out my engagement ring... my mom knew it was happening. She actually picked it up from the jewelers and gave it to FH after it was sized and everything. I know when she gave it to him they 'talked' but I told FH he didn't need anyone elses permission to marry me except mine and my family has no goats to give him anyway.

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

Yes my FH asked my father for my hand in marriage. He left work early and once he got the ring he drove to my parents house to speak with my dad. When he arrived at the house he found out my father wasnt home, (he's retired so chances are good he was on the golf course, lol). So he told my mom and my sister while he was at the house, and then called my dad on the phone! He said he could not propose without my fathers blessing, which I thought was sweet. Then that night he popped the question, I was totally surprised. We have been talking about marriage but didn't know when it was going to happen, but I'm sure glad it did!

QOTD 10.30.13 - Long Island Weddings

Fh asked both of my parents in Sept 2012 at my cousins wedding. The only other person he had told was my sisters bf (who even kept the secret from my sister! they say it was guy code )

After that a few people knew- my uncle & his wife because they helped with the ring, my parents, his family, and i believe my mom eventually told my sister & me aunt he asked for permission.

As for when he was going to propose- he didnt tell them until the day before he was actually gonna do it.

I still can't believe I didn't figure it out!

My fh asked my dad when my dad picked him up from the airport when he came to visit me- fh proposed that night.
Everyone knew it was coming as we applied already fr my visa to move to his home country.
As far as who he told just his parents knew the night before and one of my friends who we were out with a month prior. Whole I was in the bathroom he showed her how he was going to do it.
She said she had to leave when I came back to get some air outside bc she was crying how cute it was

FH had already spoke to my mom but she didn't know when it would be! I'm happy he didn't tell anyone else because I would have been p*ssed if I was telling people and they already knew.
