my fh and i are for them, not because we're concerned our marriage won't work or anything but in the event something happens to either of us, our significant other is protected, like if i decided to splurge on a 2000$ handbag right before my untimely death, my spouse is protected against my debts...student loans that kind of thing... so we're doing it to protect our loved ones rather than insurance on the possibility of a failed union.

O but I forgot, we are drawing up an agreement that in the event something terrible does happen, I cannot keep Fh's vintage BMW. That's about it though.

Re: QOTD 10/30
oh i should also mention we're not wealthy by ANY stretch of the imagination haha, we're probably in poverty by national standards
but that is the reason why we need to protect each other from our debts, if he or i die, we don't want each other to assume our student loans, previous mortgages, thats kinda stuff
i'm wondering if a will will do the same?

No a will won't do the same thing. If your married without a pre-nup, your spouse assumes your financial responsibility.
Now that I am thinking about it, its not a bad idea so GOD FORBID something happens to me, he doesn't assume my debt (and there's a lot of it!)

Re: QOTD 10/30
yea i didn't know about all this prenup stuff until like a year ago...a read an article about protecting your loved ones and it mentioned the prenups protect your spouse from financial debts in the event of death that sorta thing... not that i plan on kicking the bucket anytime soon, but you never know right?

No we won't. FH suggested it but we have nothing so I think it is a dumb idea. We don't have any debt either.
