QOTD-11/29/12
are you doing anything special at your wedding to remember family members and/or friends who have passed away?i want to have a table during cocktail hour set up as a memorial table.. with a memorial candle, as well as pictures of people who have passed with my FH and I.
my mom told me this wasn't a good idea and would be depressing, but i think it is a nice way to remember them.

I originally wanted that too. But FH thought it was also depressing so we scratched it. I will have a memory candle at the church, photo charms on my boquet and I'm trying to find a price of my grandmothers clothes to cut into a heard and see into the heart of my dress. She was like my mother so I want we to be close to me. I can't find anything I wanna cut though!

We are mentioning them in our ceremony programs & will have an engraved hurricane with a candle in it lit all night at the reception. I'm debating doing pictures... we'll see.

Re: QOTD-11/29/12
Mostly doing things in honor of my dad.Even though it will be sad..He deserves to be honored!
I am doing photo charm on my boquet of my dad.
My dad and I had a song 'unforgettable' by Nat King Cole. We used to always sing it together and he always said on my wedding day we would dance to it
I am going to dance with my mom to that song and I am going to have a Montage playing of my dad and I during it. I know it will be a sad momment but I will get through it (hopefully).

Unfortunately, we have lost 3 family members in the past 6 months alone. It's so fresh, I think a memorial table would be too sad. FH also lost his best friend a few years go. He definitely would have been in the wedding party... we're debating listing his names with the groomsmen in the program. For everyone else, we're going to have an 'In Memory,' section of our programs.

Re: QOTD-11/29/12
FH and I were just talking about this yesterday to bounce around some ideas. One idea is lighting a memorial candle during the ceremony in lieu of a unity candle, and then displaying the candle during the cocktail hour with pictures. Or, we can ask the officiant to read their names and observe a moment of silence for them during the ceremony, and just have the candle at the cocktail hour with pictures.Originally I wasn't going to do anything, but I know it would be important to my mom to acknowledge her brothers' passing.

Carrying grandmothers and great grandmothers jewelry. Maybe a memorial candle and mention the during prayers. Nothing too heavy.

I lost two family members in the past 3 months so I think doing anything more than mentioning them in the program would be too sad cause it'll have been so recent. A friend of mine mentioned leaving an empty seat at the table where my aunt would have sat and leaving her picture on the chair but I think that would upset my uncle.
