*~*~*QOTD 1/13*~*~*

Good Morning Ladies - happy Hump Day, the weekend is almost here...

Let's talk about traditions - are there any family traditions you are incorporating into your wedding? And will you be doing the traditional wedding things (cake cutting, garter, bo-k toss) or will you be changing things up a bit?

We are Italian - so the tarentella (sp) will be played, lol, i have already been told this many of times.

We are keeping it traditional with the garter, cake cutting and bo-k toss but we aren't having a wedding cake. I want cupcakes - but I do want a tier that we can do the cake cutting ceremony with.

I'm also trying to keep a tradition by getting married in a certain church - it's not my parish or FH's but all members of my immediate family have been married there. My grandma was baptized there - my dad went to school there and was even an alter boy. So knowing that my grandparents who have been married for 60 some thing years have walked down the asile twice (they renewed their vows when they hit 50 years) is pretty awesome in my eyes.

Don't really have traditions per se.

I am planning on not seeing FH the entire day before the wedding. We are going to be planning the RD for that Thursday before the wedding (which will be in my neighborhood where my mom's house is). After the RD, I shall bid FH farewell until the day of our wedding on Saturday. Friday will be a day for me and mom to do some last minute things and some pampering (hopefully with my BMs as well).

I am also planning on having a the girls (if they want to) sleep over my mom's house the night before. I think it would be fun, maybe watch some movies and vegge out a little to kill the stress and then wake up the next day when the fun begins!

For the sake of our families and tradition, we will be having our ceremony in a church. I had originally said to do a full mass because if we are going to do it, we might as well go through the whole shibang, but FH and I actually discussed this last night and we decided to just stick with a ceremony (although we still have yet to me with the priest who hasn't called us back )

We are not planning on doing the garter/bouquet toss. I always kind of felt it was mean to call out all the 'Single Ladies' in the place to fetch some flowers and then kill each other over it LOL.

We will of course have our first dance, parent dances, the cake cutting. I am going to uphold the:

Something Old = possibly great-grandmother's earrings
Something Borrowed = possibly my SIL's veil
Something New = obviously my dress
Something Blue = haven't decided yet.

We dont have any family traditions but we will be doing most of the wedding traditions with the exception of the garter and bo-k toss

Good question!!!

I'm def doing the Bo-k and garter toss and cake cutting ceremony.

I also wanted to get married in the church my mother and aunt got married in but it's in a not so nice neighborhood in the Bronx and that was the only church I wanted to get married in, but no one's upset in my family about that.

Im definetely doing the whole something borrowed/new/old/blue dealy. As to what they are, I have no clue!!!

And I'm also not seeing FH before the wedding. We have to have the rehearsal dinner on Friday, but we'll bid adieu and see each other the following evening.

We won't be doing any specific traditions. But I won't see FH on our wedding day until I'm walking down the aisle, we are getting married in a church, we are doing the parent dances, cake cutting, but NO bo-k or garter toss for us.
