This question is for brides who have already purchased their dress...Is the dress you have already gotten what you always envisioned yourself in?
NO! I THOUGHT I wanted a huge satin ballgown but I went with an A-line lace dress instead. I walked into the bridal salons saying, IDK what I want so ill try on everything. AND thank god I did! I tried on the ballgowns and they looked ridiculous on me!Also I didnt like having a hoop at the bottom of my dress and the fact that they were so heavy (I am a june bride) turned me off. Sometimes I wonder, did I make the right decision (dress regret!) but then ill try it on again and fall right back in lovee!!!

The dress I picked is actually what I thought I would purchase...its a ball gown with just enough detail and sparkle...not too much!Although I did have thoughts about possibly buying an A-line dress...
AHHH I love my gown!

I totally thought I would get an A-line dress but after trying on dresses, I realized that I loved the ball gowns...never would have pictured myself in it and sometimes second guess myself about the decision but I do love it!

I knew I wanted a puffy gown but after trying on several the lady bought in another dress and I actually told her it was ugly and I didnt want to try it on. She made me try it on and I ended up loving it! She told me this whole time I thought you wanted princess but you wanted Scarlet O'Hara lol

I thought I wanted something simple, grecian and flowy with one shoulder to give a soft look for my June wedding. To my shock, I ended up with a ballgown with a beaded strapless top! Nothing like what I imagined but my mom insisted that I try it on! Funny how mom knows best.

I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked into each bridal salon. My MOH even said to the sales woman 'Don't try to change her mind, she knows what she wants.' hahaha. I found exactly what I wanted too. The last dress I tried on was one I passed by & it caught my eye, but the sales woman didn't pull it for me. Finally she said 'I have one more dress. It's discontinued & it's only one size, so if it doesn't fit we can't order a different size'.... well it fit me like a glove. I knew it was the dress I had to have! And it's super poofy!

Re: *QOTD* 12.7.12
I definitely had a clear vision of what I wanted my dress to look like. I went to three bridal salons and none of them had anything close to what I was looking for. That's why I'm having my dress custom made!

Mine ended up being exactly what I had pictured! When I started shopping I knew I wanted a mermaid or fit and flare but said I was open to trying on all different styles. Well I did try on all different styles (probably about 70 dresses!) and it ended up I was right about the fitted shape working best for my body. I ended up with a fit a flare with an amazing fun skirt and a blingy belt just like I first pictured.

My Gown is the first dress I saw in a bridal magazine after getting engaged. I've loved it ever since and just knew it was my dress. After making 3 seperate appointments to try my dress on and other dresses by the same designer (Lazarro) I just knew it was mine because I never wanted to take it off and would compare every dress to my dress! I loveee itIts lace at the top and silk organza full skirt at the bottom. Its so elegant. Im OBSESSED. haha

When I first stated watching SYTD I use to hate mermaids!!! Then I kind of started to come around to them, I like how they are the best of both worlds, fitted on top and fun on the bottle. My dress isnt entirely what I pictured myself in. I thought i'd go with something with ruching or lace. Turns out I didn't, those materials did nothing for me. My dress is Satin the materials is 'flat' so it just kind of hugs my body it's heavily beaded, I new I wanted some detail and sparkle but nothing too over dramtic either. I had dress regret at first because I feel like I didnt look around enough. I was just so excited so I jumped into it. But I really do love it and doubt I wouldve found something better.

Yes! And I tried it on three different times before I made my final decision. I fell in love w this gown years ago and knew if I still loved it now I always will.I didn't want something too trendy and look back and say eff was unthinking

My dress is exactly what I wanted. Rushed at the top with a little bit of sparkle and a very plain A line skirt. It's funny because I LOVE everything with glitter, sparkle and rhinestones and I didn't want too much of that on my dress at all!

Re: *QOTD* 12.7.12
Mine is kind of what I pictured in my head. I knew I wanted something very feminine and classic. I wanted lace and either an A-line or fit & flare. I got the lace A-line. However, I thought I wanted sleeves and a lace back, but I didn't like the way the sleeves looked on me. I went with a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline.

When I was little I imagined wearing a princess ballgown, but I decided that wouldn't be flattering for me because I have wide hips. Though so many of you loved the princess gowns, I'm wondering if I should've at least tried one on! But I LOVE my gown, I've always wanted something that was flattering, sweetheart, with lots of beading and embroidery - it's perfect for me. It's kinda halfway between a fit and flare and mermaid, and gives me (the illusion of) an hourglass figure! I wanted something that looked like it could be from the 40's, or 20's, or any time period really - something timeless. For the past few years I had wanted to wear a blue/purple gown, but then changed my mind! It was a combo of looking at FH's grandparents' and great grandparents' wedding photos - and realizing I want our wedding pics to be obvious that they're our wedding pictures! Also after seeing Jessica Biel's pink wedding dress I knew I wanted to look like a bride and she didn't look like an obvious bride (her wedding pics look like they could've been pics from a friend's wedding or other event). So I ended up decided to wear white (ivory) just a few months ago and found my dream gown just 5 months before the wedding! I love Indian wedding gowns and debated getting one, but I found similar detailing on my wedding gown, so it is everything I wanted.

I had always said growing up that my dress would be lace and figured I'd end up in an A-line dress. I fell in love with two poofy-er dresses online, but when I tried them on, it was very clear they swallowed me up. I chose a lace fit-and-flare that I am in love with.

I had very specific ideas. Halter neckline, ball gown, really over the top details. I researched designers who would modify for the bride as requested. And as it turned out exactly what I wanted was perfect for my body type and the general style of the wedding. It pays to really consider all possibilities and be open minded
