****QOTD 1/27/12****

Happppy Friday everyone!!!!!!
I keep seeing this question on the bottom of every QOTD and have been wanting to ask!!

What was your first job ?
So how old were you ?
Did you like it ?
For fun - what was the pay ?
Do you think it started you on the road to anything?

My first job was at Campbell's Bakery!!! I started when I was 15 at $6.75 and worked there for 5 years!
I eventually got promoted to cake decorator and I really loved it.. but I hated the hours!!! We had to be there at 4am on Saturdays, 6am on Sundays! LOL.
I think it really helped get my creative side out & helped me learn MANY things about responsibility! I loveddddd decorating wedding cakes, they were my favorite! I still go to them for everything. They'll be making my wedding cake! (Which was actually a dealbreaker at RH's when I was looking, whether they would let me bring in my own cake or not!)

My first job was at McDonald's and I was 14...I kind of got punished by my mom and my punishment was to go work at McDonald's for 1 month. I hated it except I got free chicken nuggets every day. The pay was minimum wage which I believe was $5 an hour!

this is a cute question..

My first job was at the huge ice cream and candy store down in Port Jeff called The Frigate...I can say that I didn't eat ice cream for legit almost two summers because I worked there and was so sick of it haha! I'm pretty sure I got paid minimum wage too!

I started working at Markar Jewelers on Main Street in Smithtown when I was 15. A family friend who is like another mother to me had worked there since she was about the same age and got me the job. I loved it there! I used to work for Anna, who was the most wonderful woman in the world and was addicted to Starbucks, so she would send me to walk over there at least twice a day to get coffee for the both of us.

This was also the time that I fell in love with my engagement ring setting - it was the only ring in the store that fit my tiny fingers - a size 5! Mostly rings come in a stock size 7 so nearly everyone can try them on, but not this one. It was also beautiful of course, platinum and slightly antique-y with tiny diamonds on all sides except for the back and the inside. Happy to say I wear it every day now! It also reminds me of my time spent with Anna before she passed away in 2008. She was very loved, and I still miss her a lot!

My 1st job ever was working the summer youth program. I was 16. It was at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in the pshychiatric dept. I was doing clerical work.

My 1st real job that I actually had to apply for was at The Bronx Zoo. I was working the funnel cart. I was making min wage which was $5.15 at the time. Working at the zoo was fun but was also crazy. Ppl would go nuts over funnel cakes so my line would be ridiculous. Some ppl would literally yell in excitement.. 'FUNNEL CAKESSSSS' and run to my cart lol

What was your first job?-My fist job was working at The Wiz.
So how old were you?-I was 17.
Did you like it?-It really wasn't that bad...it was when they had the Ticketmaster machines and whenever there were tickets that I wanted I was always able to get the best seats when they went on sale!
For fun - what was the pay?-I really can not remember what the pay was...prob min. wage.
Do you think it started you on the road to anything?-This job only reassured me that I did not want to work in retail forever!

First Job: Chinese Food Restaurant

How old: 14

Did you like it: Loved it because I got to eat cheese wontons everyday! (And that was back in the day when I could eat a cow and not gain an ounce *sigh*)

Pay: I don't remember, I want to say $7.50 an hour, but it was also off the books and I could pick up my pay whenever I wanted it. Pretty sweet deal.
...Maybe I should go back? hmm.

It didn't start me on the road to anything but gaining weight due to my new found love for cheese wontons.

My frist job was at Target as a cashier when i was 17. I liked the people not the work. I started when the store opened so we all started together. I think the pay was $7.25 or something close to it. It really did not start me towards anything, beside seeing all the crazy people out there.

My first job was actually 2 jobs! I worked at a store on Fire Island and a periodontist office.
I was 15 when I started (I worked in the dr office two or three days a week and the store the other days).
I liked the store (worked there for 11 years) but HATED the dr office. The dr I worked for was a jerk and constantly put me down and made me cry.
Pay was minimum wage... less than $7 lol
Didn't start me on the road to anything other than knowing I never wanted to work for a dr again!
