As I was sitting here a few days ago, finishing up my thank you's, I had to laugh... Some of my wishing well gifts and a vase that was sent to us just had to be regifted...
Although I'm not QOTD girl, I had to ask you ladies out of sheer amusement... Have you ever regifted at a shower? Just had something lying around your house that you didnt like/never used, so decided to pass it on to someone else? I've never done this, but I just may now...

I have only because I got 2 of something and didnt feel like returning it, or something I didnt need. I dont think theres anything wrong with re-gifting as long as its nice, new, and you dont give it back to the same person

I did but it was a lenox vase that I got three of from the students at my school...
I just gave it though, not at a shower or anything to two of my friends who like butterflies

I didn't for their gift but I forgot to get a wishing well present so I re-gifted something I had that they would have never known I re-gifted.
Was it something off a registry?

No... It was one of those things where you look at it and are like 'uhhh... ok' and of course one of the things, is something we have already that we HATE... Im trying to throw out the one I already have

My FMIL gives gifts like that, she gave fh's cousin a hurricane lamp at her shower....totally not what she wanted AND at my shower she bought nothing off the registry and bought us muffin pans, mixing bowls when someone had already bought our pyrex sets off the registry, and a SANDWICH KNIFE (who cuts sandwiches at home?) some people just DO NOT get it!

I totally understand... we got a very nice pasta bowl set at my shower... but we didnt register for it... bc we have a set already... If i would have needed it, i would have put something similar on the registry... but the odd little items, boggle my mind LOL... I hate to be a b*tch about some of the things, but cmon now... i honestly have never thought about regifting... never done it in my life, but i know its been done to me...

I totally agree with you, like I said people are just odd. I've noticed that the gifts usually match the people that give them?

Re: QOTD #2 - Re-gifted shower gifts?
I would do it if :
1) The original gifter and the person who will get the gift don't know each other and would never wind up knowing each other; and
2) I thought the other person might genuinely like the gift (like a vase I didn't like, but the other person has vases just like that so I think they might actually like it a lot).

I've never done it but we got a few that were VERY noticeably regifted (ie: the boxes were in bad shape, 1 candle stick was missing from the set of 2 -that was the best one). There were 2 from the same person that were def from a garage sale...they had the little price tags on them and the boxes were pretty bad.

I haven't but I definitely have gotten re-gifted gifts... be careful that its not from the person your giving it back to, like the wine glasses I got for my e-party, straight off the gifters registry and not at all like the ones I had registered for.

Re: QOTD #2 - Re-gifted shower gifts?
I haven't regifted as a shower, but I do regift from time to time, specifically at office Secret Santa's, where I really don't want to spend the money on them lol.
My sister regifted some shower gifts of hers to me for engagement presents, but told me right up front that she had all these extra picture frames that didn't go with her taste, and I was thrilled, because I don't buy things like that for myself, so otherwise I wouldn't have any picture frames for our place.

I've been the recipient of a regifted shower gift. She gave me a BODY SHOP FOOT CARE KIT that she got at her shower (which I had to miss). Yeah. . .it's not fun being the recipient.
Edit: I've posted on here about this before. She actually was dumb enough to leave the original gift tag IN THE BAG.

Re: QOTD #2 - Re-gifted shower gifts?
I've never done it at a shower but I've def. gotten some Christmas gifts that just were not me at all but that I knew someone else would love. The way I see it is technically the originally gifter still did something nice for me cause now I don't have to spend $ on a gift for someone else and a gift that would end up in the back of a closet or the garbage gets a loving home!
I wouldn't re-gift something to someone if I knew they wouldn't like it though. And of course you have to make sure neither person will ever find out.

Re: QOTD #2 - Re-gifted shower gifts?
just make sure the original card to YOU is not left in the box!! my friend received a gift for her shower and there was a card in the box made out to the girl who gave HER the gift... it was obviously a gift she got at HER shower!!!!!!
