WHAT VALUES DO YOU WANT TO BRING FROM YOUR FAMILY INTO YOUR MARRIAGE? **********************************************************
I have many values I do want to bring. We are both catholic so it's very important to develop a relashionship with God. Also always set goals together, maintain boundaries, I also want to have date nights with my husband (my parents still do) and always prioritize marriage.
How about you ladies??????

I definitely want to emphasize the importance of making God part of your life. I also want to make sure that we as parents (God willing) are parents first. I respect and love my parents so much; I would want the same from our children.

I really want to bring my parents stingy-ness to the relationship. Buying the newest thing every time it updates is not the smartest thing in the world and I am trying to teach my FH that. I want to have savings to help our children when they need it, not make them have to take out loans like he has. My parents did without so their children wouldn't have to.

Well I'm catholic and FH isn't but we've talked and agreed that we want religion in their lives so I will be bringing the kids up catholic until they can decide on their own if they want to stay catholic. I want date nights as well to keep us sane lol and I want communication to be a big part! And I want our kids to know their parents are always there for them like mine are for me at least!

faith, forgiveness, charity, self-respect, respect for others, do unto others as you would have done to yourself...
I was raised Christian, and those beliefs ( and my relationship with God) kept me out of trouble, and saved me from a lot of heartache.
Church will be a mandatory part of their upbringing while they live in my home. I can't force them to have a relationship with God. HOWEVER as a parent my job is to expose them to what i deem to be the most enabling tools to succeed in life.
To me, and the FH , that means learning what the bible says.

Re: *****QOTD 2/10/11*****
Respect of others is big! some kids growing up today don't understand what respect is, and it's sad!
Religion, FH & I are both catholic, and although we don't go to church every Sunday, we still believe in God and would like our children to have the faith as well.
Family is extremily important to both FH & I so I would like our children to experience the same with family values, traditions, and closeness.
and im sure there are many more, but we will create them as we go.

Of course God.
and I always say 3 of the most important things in life and a relationship is the claddah-
Friendship, love, and loyalty
And of course- family. There is nothing more important than a strong core foundation for a family

I definitely want to bring a relationship with God into our home, and FH is in agreement
I want to save and budget more than his family does- they spend when they get it, which is not how I was raised. FH seems to be on board with this!
Family first- blood is thicker than water

Re: *****QOTD 2/10/11*****
I would say first and foremost the value of family. I grew up in a small, but close nit family. My parents have been married for 29 years and have illustrated what a healthy and happy marriage is like: they still do date nights on the weekends (all the time), never go to sleep without the other person, always cuddle and hold hands....they keep romance alive. They always have dinner together and when I lived home, dinner time was family time.
I would also stress faith, honesty, respect, love and comminication....
Lastly, we may fight, but never go to bed angry
