FH said it first about 2 months into us being together (3 months of 'dating'). We were out of town at his fraternity's spring formal and back then he was a big partier, but he kept asking me if I wanted to just be alone together for a bit. Well we ended up back in our hotel room sitting on the bed and talking and he said it, and I just looked at him and said 'No you don't' and proceeded to bawl my eyes out. I couldn't say it back that night. Took me a few days for it all to sink in!

(When we talked about getting married a few years ago I had hoped we could do it on 5/5/12, which would have been the 5 yr anniversary of him telling me he loved me for the first time. But plans changed!)

Love this question and everyone's answers!

My story might be long.
I started dating FH 4 months out of a 2year serious relationship.. I was his first girlfriend which made everything great because he treated me like gold.. And then one night about 6 weeks into our relationship we were laying down and cuddling and be told me he loved me and my response was 'no you don't' (with no emotions)... I don't remember if I explained that answer to him right then and there or not but I eventually told him that I felt like HE needed more time and that I couldn't be sure that he even knew what love was (I know, what Is wrong with me???)
In the beginning of our relationship I never got that omg I'm obsessed with you feeling so by that time I wasn't ready to say it back anyway.. All I knew was that he was a great guy and I wanted to see where things would go. I eventually said it back on our '3 month anniversary' when I had decided it was time (even though looking back I don't think I really believed it yet!)... And shortly after that I remember feeling waves of love for him here and there.. REAL waves of love... And I knew I said the right thing :)

technically, I said it first. But really it was basically the same time. It was obvious we were both thinking it & I just grew a set quicker then him Once I said it he was so relieved & blurted it out to me. haha
