~QOTD 3.6.14~

So as I have said before I have been with my fiance for a long time. When we went to Vegas on vacation last summer and I had a good feeling that we would get engaged while we were away. As soon as we got to the airport he was constantly checking one pocket in his bag, he hid a bag in the hotel safe which he never does.....things like that kept me thinking this might be it. I then spend the next few days totally nervous and excited as to if it might happen. Then one night he suggested we ride the gondola at the Venetian Hotel which is totally not his thing so then I started thinking this may finally be it . It was and it was wonderful the driver sang us Italian love songs while FH popped the question. I never told him I had any clue it was coming so to this day he thinks I was totally shocked. He worked so hard and I didn't want to ruin it.

So my questions for you ladies is when you got engaged did you know it was going to happen, have an idea it might happen or were you totally 100% shocked??

I did not know it was going to happen but I was hopping it would be soon. I would say I was 100% surprised that he did it the way he did on the day he did.

We went on a cruise, and everyone told me it was going to happen and I started to believe it, but then I said nah, I don't think so because the day we came back was my cousins wedding. I didn't think he would pop the question because he wouldn't want to take away from her day. So when he did I was really shocked. I did hide it though from my cousin on her wedding day...she was mad I didn't tell her lol

I was 100% surprised when and how he proposed... I always knew thats where we were headed, but I didn't think it would happen when it did. I LOVE surprises and FH knows that, so I think he worked really hard to make sure that happened for me :) He did a great job!

I was 100% surprised. I was definitely at my breaking point and was hoping he'd do it soon since we were together 5 years already. He always told me he thought it was cheesy to do it on Christmas. So even though my best friend was convinced he was going to do it on Christmas, I knew he told me he'd never do it. So the last present on Christmas morning, he made me stand up and he proposed. I was shocked!

I was suspicious. I have these diamond earrings he bought me and a stone fell out of one of them. I gave them to him to bring to the jeweler he bought them from in new jersey to get them fixed. A year later on a random thursday he gave them back to me fixed but I kept wondering why he decided to go to the jeweler in new jersey. Two days later he proposed. I didn't know it'd be that day but I knew it was coming soon.

yeah i totally knew it was happening lol... my friend asked me to go into the city for lunch and I knew something was up because
1. she HATES the city,
2. she HATES spending money lol so paying for a train ticket and lunch for no reason at all seemed odd to me,
3. she planned it and made the reservation for us which is so not her. She is the one i have to call 100x to just make sure she's on time for things loll, and
4. the entire time we were on the train she kept saying 'i'm so excited!' lol which was just weird because it was just food! haha
so that morning I just knew i was going to see him in central park when we went to lunch lol...

I was, however, extremely surprised that he hired a photographer to take paparazzi photos of me lol.. There were pics of me all the way outside the park getting out of the cab it was crazy! And it was so nice to have the whole proposal documented for us

I was completely surprised! I spoke to my sister about it literally the night before we went on our annual Montauk trip and told her that I was upset because Montauk would be the perfect place to get engaged. She told me that she spoke to him and he told her that he didn't have all of the money yet but that he was working on it. BOY did they get me good! When he proposed. I was just staring at him. I couldn't even wrap my head around it because I was so over that idea! He has video of me sitting at the table repeatedly saying 'wait so we're getting married' ' waiittt I have a fiancé'??? Haha too funny!

Re: ~QOTD 3.6.14~

We had never been on a legit vacation before so when our Hyatt Credit Card presented us with a payment free stay anywhere we decided on Hawaii. When we first booked it, the thought had crossed my mind but I had requested that we not get engaged before I graduated college. Also, FH had a serious talk with me about 2 months before being really upset because he said he couldn't afford a ring and didn't want me to be upset. He was a really good liar

I was totally surprised when he proposed. I ended up leaving my laptop in his bag at the airport and his whole bag got searched, so I figured I would have seen something when they emptied it but I didn't so that had sealed the deal for me that it wasn't happening. Definitely worth not knowing, the surprise was awesome and in the most romantic place ever - dinner on the beach

~QOTD 3.6.14~ - Long Island Weddings

Up until right before, I didn't know. Around this time last year we were looking at rings. We've been together so long, have a child, etc that I wasn't expecting anything big, we have bills! Then he texted me a picture of a ring setting while I was in a meeting at work one day and was like, what do you think? I was like, DON'T SEND THESE THINGS TO ME! As months went by, I sort of forgot about it until one day in June I was looking for something in the side table drawer I have by the front door and there was mail inside the drawer, which was weird, because the mail goes ON that table, not in it. I was annoyed at first because what was on top had his moms name on it and I was like, wth is her mail doing up here? uugghhh.. then something underneath it was from an insurance company and I thought, did he change the homeowners insurance and not tell me?! It was opened so I looked inside and it was NOT the homeowners insurance. lol. He had insured my ring at the jeweler and that was the paperwork! I had a mini panic attack and stuffed everything back in the drawer how it was. LOL! I didn't say anything and a few days later he was telling me how he planned this whole romantic day in the city (he hates the city) and I was like, omg that's totally it. He knew I was on to him about that weekend so he actually did it on the 4th of July in front of our friends and family. I kind of wish he'd waited until it was just the two of us, but whatever. So, he did surprise me with the day, and I wish he'd hidden the paperwork better because I wanted to be surprised! But, I never told him I found it or that I knew ahead of time. He worked really hard.

We have talked about getting married frequently but I didn't think it would happen for another year or 2. They day before it happened, he was acting kind of weird so I was a little suspicious but didn't want to get my hopes up since we were celebrating our anny. But it sure enough it happened !

I was completely surprised! Thinking about the whole day after, I should have realized something was up because he was extremely testy lol. We were going to Boston that day and I wanted to put my shampoo in his bag and he freaked out on me. At that moment I was pissed lol but later that day he apologized and said the ring box was in there hahah.

I was semi-surprised. There had been soooo many times that I thought would be good to get engaged and nothing happened.

I had always told FH that I wanted him to use the stone from my grandmother's ring. About a month before we actually got engaged I came across the bag that the ring was in and I could feel that the stone was missing, so I knew it was coming, but had no idea when. Both of our families knew when it was going to happen though.

I knew it was going to happen within a few months from when he took me ring shopping, but I didn't know exactly when. I noticed we had left my parents house one night and he had a ring box in his pocket and I knew my parents wanted him to have the diamond from my mom's engagement ring, but he always said when my lease was up we would get engaged. (He had a stupid 2 year rule!) Every year we go to Martha Clara to celebrate our anniversary of when we became 'offical.' My mom hinted at me that it would happen, but I couldn't find the evidence. Even when we got out east, I kept looking at his pockets and I didn't see anything so I finally relaxed. We went to vist the cows, walked back to our bench and he started saying all of these really sweet out of the ordinary things for him to comment on and before I knew it the wine was gone and he was on one knee! Apparently his entire family and my parents knew. I knew it was coming, but never actually thought it was going to happen, especially not that soon!

I knew it was coming but not that night. we were talking about our lease being up and I started an argument with him because I wasn't going to resign it without a ring. so this went on for like 2 hours and then in the middle of it he handed me a box and got down on one knee and I was like omg this is not happening right now. he had the ring for 3 weeks and was waiting for the right moment lol. its so typical of me and I wouldn't want it any other way!!!

We had talked about our future and getting married so I wasn't very surprised when we decided to browse some rings together. He took over a month after we went looking to propose. Since it ended up being the day before our anniversary, I was blindsided. I really thought he would do it the next day. He really surprised me when he whisked me away for a weekend at a resort that night. FH's full of sneaky surprises.

Re: ~QOTD 3.6.14~

Oh yeah...I was floored. I mean we had been together for 4 years at that point (June '13) and had been talking about marriage for a long while at that point. But I thought if anything he would do it around Christmas time of that year. Instead, it was the middle of the week (a Wednesday) and I was in school the majority of the day, then went to run some errands in downtown Manhattan then back home to Queens. The last thing I was thinking was that he was going to propose that night! But, he did and I remember being so shocked that I forgot to answer. I kept saying 'Are you serious? Now? Are you serious?' and babbling away in shock haha

Awww! I would have pretended I hadn't seen it either. Now that I think of it, I had seen the jeweler's business card in his wallet maybe a month prior to him proposing but I thought he was doing very early research. I never in a million years thought he would have a ring ready that summer. I never told him I saw that haha

He proposed while we were in Mexico. I knew he was going to on this trip becuase he exhausted me with looking at engagement rings like 4 months earlier, and we were moving in together when we got back and I know his mother wanted us to be engaged prior to moving in together.
But I didnt know HOW he would do it, and he did it perfect on a evening stroll on the beach
