First, I'd like to thank TJ for making me BOTW this week. It was so much fun coming up with questions and reading everyone's responses!

Second, today's question is:

How many people have given/will give toasts or speeches at your wedding? If you had anyone other than the BM and MOH give one, who was it?

I always assumed only the BM and MOH gave toasts. In fact, I've never seen anyone else give toasts at a wedding. My FFIL, however, has different ideas and is being very difficult about giving a speech (not just a toast, a speech). He claims this happens at 'every wedding,' though not at any wedding I or anyone in my family has ever been to. I do not want to make my guests sit through lengthy speeches- it's not a graduation, it's a wedding.
I gave him free reign to say whatever he likes at the rehearsal dinner but apparently this isn't good enough for him. My father, who is hosting the wedding, has no intention of giving any type of speech.
So, for now, the BM and MOH will be giving toasts at my wedding!

PS: Please let me know if you haven't been BOTW yet!

I have both a matron of honor and a maid of honor and I think they will both be giving a speech along with the best man!

I'm in the same boat. They are my best friend and my sister and will both be giving speeches along with FHs BM (his brother). I would actually like my dad to give a speech (my parents are hosting and paying for most of the wedding). I'm afraid, however, if I tell FH that my father is giving a speech, he's going to want to have his father give a speech, meanwhile FHs family isn't paying for anything and my father would have a huge problem with him giving a speech.

My MOH and BM are giving toasts. My MOH is my SIL and she will be very quick since she doesn't really like to speak in public (I told her she doesn't need to do one at all if she's not comfortable but she's insisting a few mimosas and she'll be fine!) BM is FBIL and he's given me a preview. His is funny but not too long.

I've been to weddings where the parents who host give a toast. If FFIL isn't hosting, and your parents aren't planning on toasting, then he should move his speech to the rehearsal dinner.

Just my MOH & BM from what I know. I think the BM is excited to do one just to embarrass me lol. He keeps saying he's going to bring up that we met online, so I made sure EVERYONE knew that's how we met before the wedding lol (my mother didn't know until after we were engaged for like 6 months lol).

I've been to a wedding where the father of the bride gave a speech!

We will not be giving one at the wedding, maybe at the rehearsal dinner though just to say a thank you to the bridal party.

We are just having our 2 maid of honors and 2 best men give speeches at the wedding. 4 speeches are more then enough!
