'All the women who's independant, Throw your hands up at me!'
My FH called it the 'Women's Lib' question. He was so adamant about me taking his last name. Growing up I had strong feelings about not doing this because I thought I was an Independant Woman! Now I realize, I'm probably one of the ONLY Carmela's that my clients and most of my friends know.
Are you changing your last name to take on FH's? How do you feel about that?

I am taking my FH's last name - I think it is going to be really weird to be called marie s________ vs. my name now!

I took DH's last name....call me old skool and a traditionalist but honestly I never really second guessed doing it! DH was actually surprised I wanted to (for some odd reason) and he even said that he would take my name if I wanted him to (I was like 'huh?') because he thought my first name sounded weird with his last name. Anywho, I did end up changing my name (it is changed with SS, bank, DMV and work) but I still haven't changed it with my credit cards. So now whenever I sign something I have to think 'What is my name with this card?' I gotta get on that haha

Everyone around me was surprised that I was taking his last name...including FH.
I just always pictured it to be that way. And it makes us a family unit (even though we don't want kids). And I'm lazy; it just makes paperwork and shyt easier if we have the same last name.
I don't see it as being anti-feminism/women's lib...if anything, the fact that I made this choice on my own and without pressure makes it more powerful on the woman-front.

I thought this was the coolest part LOL. I did this right away, and his 4 letter last name is also soooooo much easier to spell out than my loooonnngggg a$$ italian maiden name.
