First off, let me start by thanking Heather for being an Excellent BOTW and handing it off to me for this week... THANK YOU!
Ok, on to the QOTD for today:
When it comes to your dress, are you holding yourself back? How many of you wish you could do something really drastic and crazy, but are holding back because of tradition?
I tried on a dress recently that was really slinky and sexy, almost nightgown-ish and I couldn't believe how good it looked! There's no way I can wear it because it's a little too much: SUPER low cut, REALLY form fitting, etc., but my Mom keeps asking all these other stores if they have any slinky, 1940s era gowns, just so she can keep seeing me in them. She's such a nut, she knows I can't wear something like that!

I was a little torn between two dresses, one that was more 'me' and one that was totally not 'me'. In the end, I chose the dress that was 'me' b/c even though I want to stand out, I wanted something that suited me. I love my dress!

No I do'nt think I am holding back. My gown is traditional in that it's big and white.. but it's kinda different too. Basically anyone who has seen it says it's 'me'. Its dramtic and amazing and I LOVE IT!
edited bc i just read how I originally answered this and it sounded like the oppositte.. weird i know.. lol

no im not holding back....my style is simple/boring so it would be weird for me to wear soemthing untraditonal.....but also i didnt think i would be wearing an ivory dress (i didnt know it was common) and i also never thought i would wear something fitted through the hip because im curvy.

CONGRATS ON BOTW!!!!!!!!!!
I think that I am holding myself back to an extent......I could never wear something with an extremely low cut back or too slinky that showed my every curve because I wouldn't feel that comfy and I think my mom would probably flip.....( I am thinking of a wedding I went to where the bride looked absolutely FANTASTIC and she had a slinky VERY tight dress and the back draped all the way down to the top of her crack and the front was soooo low - she totally rocked it but I know I would never be able to wear that to church without having my mother kill me....)
on the other hand, if I like something that isn't TOO drastic or too revealing, then I will go with what I like and what I feel looks best on me.....
I am probably going the traditional route since I just happen to really love the big poufs with pinups and corset tops, which is probably what I am gonna wind up with!

Nope, I'm definitely not holding back at all...like a lot of the other girls I went with something that is very 'me' and I'm sure that anyone who saw it would say so.

congrats on being BOTW!!
my dress is completely different then any one would imagine me getting. i am usually very plain & simple, however my dress has Swarovski crystals, beading & pick-ups. it may not be my everyday style but when i have this dress on, i am so happy to be in it. i get one of those ear to ear smiles on.

My gown is big, poofy, and sparkly......exactly what I wanted. I tried on a more delicate, slim-line, lace gown, and it was gorgeous, but it just wasn't me.
So I'd say no, I don't think I'm holding back, because my gown is exactly what I had always pictured myself in.

I was torn between 2 dresses. They both fit my personality in different ways.

Re: ~~~~****QOTD 8-31-09****~~~~
nope not at all!!
im such a traditional girl that i wasn't even drawn to anything too modern or out of the ordinary...
although i think my dress has a couple of elements that make it different, it still is traditional in the sense that its a full Aline gown, white, etc.

Hmm good question!
I sometimes think that maybe my dress is not wedding-y enough because it's not big and poofy - BUT - that's not my style at all and I'd be so uncomfortable in a dress like that. So... no, I don't think I'm holding back at all, I'm doing what's right for me!!
Congrats on BOTW!!

No, not holding back!! I knew I didn't want anything completely traditional looking so I only tried on two of those and knew they weren't for me. I didn't feel get any sort of 'wow' feeling when I had them on. As soon as I put my dress on I knew it was the one!!

Re: ~~~~****QOTD 8-31-09****~~~~
I am not holding myself back per se becaus of tradition, while I would LOVE to do something more daring or unique, it's just NOT me and I don't wanna pick something that wasn't me just because I was looking to be daring or make a statement.
