Did FH propose to you with your dream engagement ring? I've read many stories on here of girls changing the setting or upgrading the ring.

i like my ring, it wasn't what i was expecting but i still love it! I gave him a picture of something i would like, and he knew to get a princess cut stone at least (since thats what i wanted)

I love my ring! Everyone will not agree with me but that's fine...We got what we could afford at the moment...just as when someone's socioeconomic status changes and they get a new car, bigger home, I would like a nicer ring. Disclaimer: I belong to a diamond enthusiast forum, so there's tons of eye candy on there Many women said when they first got engaged they were given a .3 carat ring and loved it and now after their 10th,20th, and 25th anniversaries they have 3 and 4 carat beauties! My dream ring would probably be a excellent cut, heart and arrow, 2.5 or 3 carat ring in a beautiful Tacori or Ritani setting, but my dream ring would probably cost about 60K so hopefully in 20 years that baby will be mine. However, I will NEVER change my wedding band!

yes and no.....i always told him i wanted a princess cut which is what he got. about a year and a half ago my mom changed her engagment banc so i took hers and that what he put the diamond in, so its very sentimental. reason i say no is because if i didnt have my mothers band i dont knwo what i would have now. i never looked into bands and neither did FH so i dont know if what he would have chosen would have been my dream ring..if that makes sense

I love my ring. I do wish it was a little bigger but thats ok, I still love it. He actually got the center stone from my Uncle who is a jeweler so he got a great deal. And this is what he could afford without being in complete debt so I love it.

yes and no. i had a picture of an 'Estate' ring (antique looking) that I wanted it to be based off of and apparently no jeweler knew what that was. I did get princess cut and lower down (i didn't want a high setting) so he definitely listened to me on that lol. The ring I have now is just more modern (channel set) than antique looking.

FH actually proposed using HIS claddagh ring. I had to wear it on a chain around my neck because it was too big. Then we took my dad's (RIP) ring and had the diamond from that set. And I love it. It has tons of meaning and is just perfect for me.

FH and I went to Zales and I picked out three or four rings I liked. He did pick out my favorite one, but I had NO idea he was going to get it that soon... I thought we were going to keep looking.

I will get my ring upgraded after our anniversary... we both decided that. Like Halls, he got what he could afford at the time and I love it.

Now I just need to go to Smithaven Mall and get it sized.

Like Joanne I had picked out 3 rings with his sister and ranked them, she then took him the next day to show him the rings and I had no idea which ring he chose. He chose my favorite, which i do love

I love my ring. It is exactly what I wanted...probably because I designed it. The center stone is 100 years old, it was my great grandmas, then my grandmas, then my moms, now mine. The ring was custom made around the center stone. Honestly though, the ring could be any design and I would love it because the center stone has so much sentimental value to me.

I understand upgrading, but I would just never do it because then it wouldn't be a stone that means something to me.

I always told FH that I wanted a three stone ring. I have fat fingers and a single stone with a band just pushes the fat around. FH would go somewhere to look at rings, they would always tell him that a three stone ring was not traditional. So he told me that and I said that I still liked it but if he wanted to get me something traditional that was fine with me. In the end he picked out a band with 12 channel set diamonds. It perfect for me.

No, I have the ring i wanted. We went to the store together and design it. It's a 2 ct, it just right for the napoleon complex in me.

I actually do not have an engagement ring. FH got caught up in a moment and said we should get married and it went from there. We can't afford a ring right now which is fine with me since I don't wear rings and I'm petrified to have anything worth more than $500 on my person (i have a HORRIBLE habit of losing/breaking things).

Happy with just a wedding band. Maybe in the future I'll want a diamond, but I'm cool with just a band right now. Even if I had one, I'd never wear it....I'm constantly pulling lumber and doing renovations at home. His mother is NOT happy about it......feels he should get me one....my family is eh....they know me and they know I don't wear jewelry so they aren't shocked. If we had the money it would be a different story, but to me the wedding itself is where I want the money to go. Both of my brothers went into debt to make sure they got the perfect ring.....love being debt free more than I'd love a ring.

my e-ring is my dream ring and then some. i love it so much!!

when FH and I went 'looking' for a ring we were looking at a certain size stone and when he gave it to me it was even larger than what we were looking at.
i love it soooo much and i dont think i would ever upgrade or change anything. this is why we picked a classic, simple setting.

i love my ring. i picked out the diamond and the setting. he picked it up without me knowing and surprised me with it. it's a princess cut solitaire. it's the perfect size for my hand, anything bigger would have looked fake.

I love my ring, it's perfect for me.... but definitely not what I would have expected FH to get though. I didn't expect the setting I have, I couldn't have even pictured the setting, but I love it. I would never change the ring simply because of the sentimental value. This ring has so much meaning and already so many memories behind it, another just wouldn't seem like my ring to me.

I love my ring!!! I had actually designed a few years ago and told FH when he was ready, thats what I wanted. I wouldn't change a thing about it!

I love my ring now... i am very good friends with a jeweler so that is where FH got my ring. I loved the first ring but just wanted the stone bigger. I never asked FH for anything. Everything I own is because of myself. The only thing I wanted was a 2 carat ring. He gave me 1.25, but my ring size is a 7.5 and it looked small. I told him I want the exact ring but with 2 carat. He wasn't upset and changed it for me. LOVE FH!!!!

i love my ring. i didn't expect him to do as well of a job that he did being that we're still young. He definitely put in a lot of overtime to get it. I won't be upgrading at all but I do want an anniversary ring maybe 5 years after being married!
