Good morning to all my fantastic LIW girls!!! So today I have a NWR QOTD!! Its a 4 parter again hehe

1. For those of us that went to college, what was your major?

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field?

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing?

1. For those of us that went to college, what was your major?
I was a Psychology major at teh University at Albany & an education minor

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field?
Nope... I made a decision, a very hard one at that, to give teaching a break after a hellish 6 months in this past Feb. I threw a few resumes out there this time around, but really wanted to stay where I am right now for a little while. I am in Camp Insurance right now at an Agency and I love it!

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid? Haha I wanted to be Cinderella- no really that was what I wanted to be!

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing? Not at all... I oculd have never imagined that I woudl have taken a chance like this... I am a very planned person and this was a very uncharachteristic risk for me ...but hey, Im happy and thats all that matters!!

1. For those of us that went to college, what was your major?

Child Study- to become a kindergarten teacher

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field?

kinda- im a pre-k teacherlol

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?

always wanted to be a teacher

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing?

nope..now im going to school to become a NURSE

(1) undergrad, my major was english with a dual in psychology.

(2) as a teacher, yes, and only after getting a masters in education

(3) when i was little, i wanted to be a writer

(4) i still write. i just don't make my money that way, and i love teaching.

1. Undergrad was Elementary Education and Grad school was Literacy.
2. I taught in the classroom for 5 years and have been a Literacy Coach and Specialist for going on 3 years.
3. I really wanted to be an artist when I was like 5 and then I wanted to be a teacher.
4. I thought I was going to be in the classroom a lot longer so it was not really expected, but I wouldn't want to do anything else now!!

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field? Yes

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid? Teacher

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing? Yes

1. I went to St. Joe's and had a major in psychology. Then I went to NYU to get my Masters in Social Work.

2. I am a social worker now, as much as I can be without a license.

3. When I was a kid, I wanted to work at Carvel!!! So glad I realized I have more potential than that!

4. I am working with the population that I have wanted to work with as a social worker (pregnant and parenting teens), but I hoped I would have a more clinicial/therapeutic job.

I majored in English. I wanted to do sports journalism & broadcasting. Since im a total sports freak & into stats etc. However, i am not in that field but i do work in numbers. Im an Asst. Comptroller.

When i was a kid i wanted to be a 'SUPERSTAR' lol Not a princess nope notme I wanted to be a SUPERSTAR!!! lol

1. I was a journalism major at Hofstra
2. Now I'm an Office Manager at a school for developmentally disabled adults.... so the only part related to journalism is the monthly newsletter I used to write up!

3. When I was little I wanted to be a vet or a photographer... photography is still one of my hobbies though.
4. Definitely no where near what I thought I'd be doing, but I'm happy so that's all that matters.

I started to go but, never finished

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field?
Nope- Im teaching at a pre-school.

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?
Lawyer

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing?
Not at all. I had my son, stayed home with him for 2 1/2 yrs and then had to go to work. I started doing pre-school cause I was able to take him with me. Now I'm looking into other things.

1. For those of us that went to college, what was your major?
Sociology/Biology from Buffalo State. Also just got my nursing degree

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field? Yes

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid? I want to be a biochemist!

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing? Nope but I am happy with it.

1. My major was English and my minor was Secondary Education for both undergrad and grad school.

2. Yes, I teach middle school and love it.

3. I wanted to be a teacher my whole life.

4. I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing and I love it!

1. I was a Music Education Major at NYU.

2. Yes, I teach elementary school music and chorus! Its a lot of fun!

3. I never had one thing I wanted to be when I grew up. I went to college for a few things...statistics, anthropology, spanish..you name it i studied it!

4. I do love what I am doing but I am planning on pursuing a doctorate and trying to teach at the collegiate level some day!

1. I have got by BS in interior design and then just finished law school and have me JD now.

2. Not practicing either....I work in construction.

3. I always wanted to be an architect

4. I never would have even thought about law school...can thank ny Dad for the crazy idea.

1) i have a bs in criminal justice for st johns.. got into law school but decided not to go
2) I am a account manager for a company that builds retail chain stores nationally
3) always wanted to be a entertainment lawyer
4) never thought i would be doing this

1. For those of us that went to college, what was your major?

I started out as Communications, but wound up getting my B.S in Accounting.

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field?
Right now I work in finance, but I am currently looking to get a more accounting related job.

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?
I wanted to be a writer!!! I still do sometimes but I am too lazy to write..


4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing?
Not at all!!!! I thought I would be traveling the world as a journalist! Although, looking back I know I am much more suited for accounting!

First a DANCE major, then switched to CRIMINOLOGY

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field?

I was a professional Dancer, now I'm a Criminal Intelligence Analyst

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?

A ballerina and a bride

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing?

nope...

1. For those of us that went to college, what was your major?
secondary social studies education (im still in school, one semester left!)

2. Are you now 'practicing' in that field? well no, im an office manager/operations director at a psychology practice, but i will be student teaching in sept.

3. What did you want to be when you were a little kid? Teacher or lawyer

4. Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing? currently---no. but come september, i will be (student) teaching, so yea

Also.. wow there are a lot of teachers on this site!!
