Right now my biggest issue is finding a place to live!
How did you and FH decide where you wanted to live? If you don't live together yet, have you decided what area you're looking into?

Right now FH and I are living together with his parents in a small condo... we are looking to get our own place, but not sure when that can happen with the wedding coming up. We are actually living in CT right now and are looking to stay (for now). I think we both want to end up back in NY, but only time will tell when. We would really love to buy a house though... :)

Yep, we have decided where we want to live. We have less than 6 months to move, so just waiting on him.

We both grew up in the floral park area and loved it, but when we started looking at homes the prices were just way to high there (and the taxes were ridiculous!).. we started looking in franklin square (north of the tpke, i'm not a fan of the area of f square south of the tpke, too many illegal rentals and stuff) because I like franklin square schools. We ended up finding a house in Garden City south right by washington st. school so we are sososo happy :) and my mom can ride her bike there in like 5-10 mins which makes her happy too! After we do some work to the home and expand the dormer on the 2nd floor, hopefully we will get a decent resale price and can eventually move back to floral park. But i really love the block we are on right now so who knows, maybe we will stay in GC south!

Hey Cets, I grew up in Bellerose and moved out of an apartment in FP when I moved in with FH.. Loved the area! For us it was easy FH had an apartment in an aforadable building right on the water in Rockaway Beach.. His daughter lives there so he was not moving out and really living across the street from the beach is not HUGE problem I couldnt live with lol.. so I just moved in. After we get married we are going for an upgrade to a 2 bedroom so we have more space. But not leaving our building!! I refuse!

We live in Floral Park, right by Sewanhaka HS. We chose our house because it is literally 3 blocks from my family's house. We had moved in with them for a few years when we came from TX and I wanted to be in walking distance from my parents. Best decision I ever made!

Yeah I love it!! We looked in Bellerose, Queens at first but the homes were ridiculously priced! They were in the 550k range for a little cape, but the taxes were only like 3k which was really nice.
We always wanted to live in Floral Park and send our future kids to the schools there, but the town has become somewhat 'unlucky' in the last few years so we may want to stay out haha. I know it sounds so stupid, but a kid i knew in HS got hit by a train a few years ago, a kid my FH knew from grammar school and HS killed himself 2 years ago, a few girls were killed on their way to work in a car accident, the teconic pkwy accident involved floral park people, and a bunch of kids we knew from HS are drug addicts in and out of rehab now! Not sure if FP is where we want our kids to be anymore! lol... not to mention my FH and I are getting kind of sick of running into people from HS that we didn't like and having to fake being nice and catch up. I get panicky walking into associated supermarket because I'm afraid I'll run into someone hahaha... Franklin Square/GC South is like a nice clean slate for us, and although we know quite a few people from there, we feel like the people are very down to earth and laid back which we like :)

Fh and I are moving into his grandparents house since they passed. Its 5 minutes from where he's lived his whole life. And while its a little far from my mom who doesn't drive theres a bus that will bring her right there.

FH and I recently moved to an apartment in Brooklyn Heights after spending three years on the Upper East Side. We both work in Manhattan so this is the most convenient for us right now. We will eventually move back to Long Island since we both grew up in Smithtown but most likely to somewhere in Nassau in case we are still working in the city.

FH moved into an apartment right before we started dating in Suffolk. After I moved in we really liked the area so we just closed on a house not too far from where the apartment is. We both grew up in Suffolk and wanted to stay close to our families so this was the perfect choice!

We live together in a 1br apartment below his parents (ugh). We cannot wait to move, but with prices here in LI we may move out of state. I love my family and hope I can stay close but ultimately I will not sacrifice being able to have and raise a family of my own to just stay close. Staying here is still my first choice, but we will see where the future takes us. lol

I grew up in FP too and Yes,it's gotten very unlucky!!5 years ago I asked FH if he wanted to get an apt together. He said no, let's buy a house...So I looked and found one I liked, went to see if, needed a lot of work, then the realtor said theres one close by, went to see if, got to the driveway on our way out and put in an offer.

We are in Bay Ridge. He and I moved in together there after he was in DC for 8 years. I work in Staten Island so there are only a handful of places you can live without having to live in Staten Island. We are planning to be in Brooklyn for a while. FH wants to move back to LI, I would like to stay in Brooklyn.

We live in a beautiful apartment in Downtown BK, but our lease is up on Halloween so I will be moving 2 months before the wedding. Yeah, kill me now!We definitely want to stay in BK though - atleast until we have kids and they start getting too 'city' - then it's out to LI.

Same here!! FH and I are looking at houses in Nassau, close to Mineola (where my parents live). He works long hours in NYC, so we can't go too far out on the island. I know finding your 'perfect' home takes time, but house shopping is stressful.![]()

We just moved in together to an apartment in Massapequa. I personally love the area, i've lived here most of my life. As far as where we would like to end up buying a house, definitely in Nassau County, south shore. If we can find something in Massapequa even better!Welcome New Vendors
