Loved all your responses yesterday! You girls are great!

So, lately I've been thinking about what are some subtle (and maybe not-so-subtle!) aspects to your wedding that are homages to things you love, FH loves, memories you too share, etc.

For example, the first real vacation FH and I took together was to Disney World, and we had the amazing time possible. It was just such a wonderful trip. So, we're going to have the ceremony recessional set to the instrumental version of 'I Know You' from Sleeping Beauty!

Now, just for me! I am OBSESSED with Downton Abbey. Like, really obsessed. For those who know, last season Lady Mary and Matthew finally get married. And I absolutely loved the song they played at their wedding! It's a very traditional, old world wedding song (Trumpet Voluntary in D for those who want to google!). So, while I will be doing my walk down to the traditional 'Here Comes the Bride', the rest of the processional will be to this song.

Just little things that people probably won't notice because I'm not HUGE into a theme, but just little nods to things we love!

Any of you guys have little personal touches like this??

FH & I went to disney the morning after we got engaged. As a little nod to that we will be playing Be Our Guest as dinner is served. Fh enjoys cigars so I plan to surprise him with a cigar roller at the cocktail hour. We are huge sports fans and plan to have FFIL get introduced with enter sandman and I have a yankees garter. Our last name will be Mango so we plan to have a mango flavored favor as well as a mango signature drink.

thats all i can think of right now.

I don't answer these questions much but I love this question! I'm all about finding subtle ways to work in things we love. I didn't want a Yankees themed wedding bc it just wasnt what I envisioned for the day but as a subtle nod to our love of watching the Yankees together my colors are navy and white. FH is a hockey player and a huge Rangers fan so I bought him cufflinks made from a game used Rangers puck. For when me and my dad walk down the aisle I picked a cute song called 'stuck on you' by Meiko to walk down to bc we always tell the other one 'ur stuck with me' plus that song is so us its ridiculous. For the cake topper I'm having clay renditions made of us and our animals bc we're obsessed with our dog and cat. Our signature drink is a raspberry mojito because FH makes them for me at home all the time and I LOVE them so my venue said we could give them his recipe and they'll make it exactly like he does. FH loves cigars so we're getting a cigar roller and since we're marrying on his birthday I'll also have a separate cupcake for him and play a birthday song wen they bring it out.

FH is big into comics so there will a slight theme with him and the groomsmen. Under their suits they will have superhero shirts with matching superhero boutonnieres.

My MOH's kid sister is like my little sister so to include her in the wedding we're having her play guitar for the ceremony. My BMs will be walking down the aisle to 'Back in Black' and I will be walking down to 'Enter Sandman'

We're also having a hot cocoa bar and my mom just told me she wants to pay for an additional favor (not just the photobooth photo holders) ... so we're going to do COFFEE!!! Since I'm ALWAYS drinking it :) :)

We loves Star Wars so my friend who is making our cupcakes is suprising him with a Darth Vader Grooms cake.. and he wants us to walk into the reception to the Imperial March but I think I want to walk into the ceremony with my dad to that.(if it can be done on bagpipes) .LOL so I am trying to convince him to walk into the Rangers Goal song since we are both obsessed with the Rangers. I am wearing a Rangers Garter Belt.. And our first dance is going to be to a band that we discovered together and this song is absolutely us and we love it.

FH is totally not a dress up guy he is ALWAYS in jeans and tee shirts so after our first dance FH and all the groomsman are changing out of the tuxes waist up and throwing on tuxedo tee shirts.

Great question!

I am a huge Guns n Roses fan ... they are my favorite band ever. So, I am going to have the bridal party walk down the aisle to the instrumental version of 'november rain,' my absolute favorite song.

Overarchingly, we are doing a nautical/cape cod themed wedding, since it is a really special, romantic place for us. We are going to have gold anchors and hydrangea, sailboats as decorations, etc. Nothing too in your face, but subtle touches that all nod to cape cod.

i am just getting past the big stuff right now, so i haven't given too much thought to the little touches, but i have a lot of other ideas!

Wow everyone has such great ideas! We don't have much personalization going on but I really would like to change that. I do want to incorporate a signature drink but we have to figure out the details for that one.

My FH's family is Italian (came here in the 70s) and certain things are very important to them. We are having a band at the wedding, and we added an Italian singer. We will be having about 30% Italian music at the wedding since over 50% of our guests are straight from Italy. With all of the Italian influence, I started searching for small details to incorporate my Irish heritage into the wedding. We will be doing wedding wands with bells attached to the ends, since bells are a symbolic part of weddings in Irish culture. I am also incorporating an Irish proverb/blessing onto the church programs.

Not sure what else though!

Same here -- I think I am going to make a sign so that people know about it. For our e-party we upgraded to craft beers and no one knew about it, and they just kept ordering regular beer.

Love your ideas!!

We are attempting to go with a very subtle 'fire & ice' theme. Some of the reasons are, he's born in January (ice), where I'm November (fire). Our wedding is right in the middle of both of our birthdays, which is also the Fall/Winter cusp.

We both play ice hockey and are obsessed with the sport. He is also a firefighter. We love everything about Fall/Winter. Lastly, I feel like in terms of ourselves, I'm more of a hothead and am quick to make decisions, where he is very cool and calm in stressful situations, which is great because we are able to cancel each other out in tense situations and bring each other to the center.

I honestly think we are polar opposites, but we compliment one another.

In terms of our wedding, small things like lighting, colors and decor will simply play off this theme, as well as our engagement pictures, and of course our date & setting! I love that its subtle enough for use to know why we're doing what we're doing, where it may not be obvious to everyone else. :)

YES definitely! i'm planning on making a sign so that it doesn't go to waste ... I think FH and the groomsmen are going to LOVE it!

FH and I are both obsessed with art so we're surprising our guests with a caricature artist during the cocktail hour. Figure this will be a little something people can take home to remember the night.

Also, since we live in the city, we're having a pretzel cart at the end of the night to pay homage to that aspect of our lives.

Love the pretzel cart idea! Are you getting it through your venue or hiring an outside vendor?

I am surprising FH with a cigar roller for the last 2 hours of our reception. When FH is with the guys, especially golfing, they love smoking cigars and BS'ing. He's going to be so excited when he see's this. otherwise it's just having songs that mean alot to us playing.

great question! Lets see...

FH loves batman--really loves batman-- so I am trying to incorporate that. Superhero t-shirts under the tuxes is something we talked about, I bought him batman cufflinks to give that morning, I was thinking of a signature cocktail called 'the dark knight'.

I suppose the wedding is obviously about us but I feel like there are subtle ways we are paying homage to our relationship. Like the table numbers will be accompanied by photos of us at that age, but once you hit 18, the photos will be of us together to illustrate just how long we have been together!

edited for spelling.
