QOTD August 7th

ok. so question today.. a lot of issues and opinions surrounding the registry info with the invites.

MY question is... if you don't have a wedding website, and due to most people invited to the wedding don't know each other and are NOT invited to the shower, then how do they find out about your registry is you don't put a card or note in your invite?

the way I've seen it is that the registry is only used for the bridal shower. I don't really see people bringing gifts to weddings anymore, usually just cash/checks. so I think only the people who are invited to the bridal shower need to know about the registry. if you'd like physical gifts at the wedding I think the only way to go is to add a registry card with your wedding invites

Totally this! Id prefer the cash at the wedding... I know that sounds horrible.... but really I don't want to worry about lugging around a big gift at the end of the night, or worse someone stealing it.... It has happened

QOTD August 7th

I have not had my shower as of yet, however we recently received a gift off of our registry and we were pleasantly surprised. It is a friend of FH that will be invited to our wedding. I have never met him and his wife before but thought it was so thoughtful of them especially since only the FIL's and my MOH's are really the only one that knows we actually registered. I think someone did a little investigating. Lol

We made a quick, free wedding website through wedding paper divas and paid $20 to get a personal domain. I just put on our wedding date, who's in our bridal party, our registries-- just the basics. If anyone doesn't know how we got engaged or 'about us' they probably don't need to. We'll put that on our Save the Dates in case people need our registry and hotel information, and we probably will include a note with that information as well with the STDs. After my shower I'll probably clear out most of my registry since I'm hoping people will give cash/checks as well!

I have seen people give gifts at weddings still (there were at least a 5 people at each wedding at the past 3 weddings I attended). So, people still do it, it's probably not as common anymore.

Also, especially if the people are the FIL's friends or your parents friends, they will probably tell them. People always find ways of finding out.

I think the best option would be to set up a website and include that in your invitation. It's supposedly tacky to list your actual registry on the invite.
