OK, since I'm still up and technically it is Friday, here's my question
What do you plan on doing at/for your wedding to make it personal? How will you make your guests know and feel that they are at your wedding and not at a cookie cutter wedding?
maybe special food, music, something important to both you and FH, etc

we're doing the montage which I love because it gives you a glimpse into our lives and journey thorugh starting out as babies and then through to when we became a couple

Probably something Polish for his family and something Irish for mine. Other than that it's a pretty basic LI wedding.

Sorry J....honestly I don't have a good answer for you bc we haven't gotten that far. We are doing a montage, some diff things at coktail hour with foods that we like instead of the 'standards'. Oh.....and after NY we are all going to cancun for a few days. That's all I got

I am DIYing a ton of details which should make it more personal. I think our main thing though will be the swing dancing. FH and I have been dancing together for 7+ years (longer than we've been dating). We're having a swing band, our first dance will be a swing dance, and hopefully we'll have some lessons available for the guests (if we can just figure out when that would take place).

We are doing a montage.
A candy table -BECAUSE everyone knows Rich and I are huge candy lovers. So we are putting only our favorite candies.
A cigar roller for 2 purposed -my FH Rich loves cigars AND my culture
MY dad is Puerto Rican but my mom is Indonesian so we are having Indonesian cigars to bring in her culture.
MY FH whom is Colombian we are playing old school salsa and having aguardiente (a Colombian liquor) in our reception.

i want to have FH's father's bagpipe band play during dinner since that's an important part of his life

Sine we are huge NY giants fan, we chose our color scheme because of it. We are also doing some DIY stuff.

Here are some of our ideas-
Music: Bridal Party - At Last by Etta James Me - Pachabel (otherwise my Mom would kill me- lol) Recessional- It's the end of the world as we know it
Cocktail Hour- saxaphone player (still in the works)
First dance - most likely going to be the song from the wedding singer (grow old with you)
Favors: breast cancer donation to honor FH's mom - we are getting breast cancer favor boxes and going to fill them with candy - other ways we are going to remember her - putting a single flower (her favorite) on the altar
Matches (FH is a fireman)
Cigars (with our logo on them)
Bubbles (for after the ceremony)
That's really all of the personal things we have thought of so far... but we are def working on more!!
ETA: Oh and we're gonna blow up 2 silly pics of us when we were kids and have them near the card table!

We plan on doing small touches throughout the weddingi
*Framed pics of us as kids with 'boys' and 'girls' under and put them on the bathroom door
*We brew beer, and make wine too, so we're deciding on making one of the 2 in personalized bottles as our favor
*Each table number will be a 'chapter' in our lives together, a small pic of us with a story attached...
I know there are more things that I have written down in my binder but I can't think of them off the top of my head!

I'm throwing around the idea of putting pictures of FH and I at different ages on each table (i.e. table 2 pictures of us at age 2, etc.)
We got a jazz band for the cocktail hour because we both really like frank sinatra, dean martin, etc.
and the music! for sure!

Since FH is Dominican and I am Jewish, we are having my band play Spanish, Russian, Jewish and English songs. My menu is a Russian Menu with lots of food and liquir on the tables.
We are doing a photo montage and a love story that we will be showing at the dinner.
Other than that, we are still working on the particulars. :)

Our 'Salad Course' is actually our salad that we make at home all the time... Our RH said to fax over the ingredients and then stop by one day to 'teach' our chef how to make it... How effin cute is that?!
