Good morning ladies! For all my girls who came to the NYC g2g last night, I had so much fun and I heart you all!!!
now for the question....
'If FH had an amazing job opportunity, but it was in a distant country, how would you feel about it? Would you be willing to pick up and move, knowing that you would hardly see your friends and family? Would the money be worth it and would you do it for FH?'

Re: ***QOTD, Thurs, Sept 23***
Great questions this week!
Even though it sounds exciting and a once in a life time opportunity to live somewhere else (and make great money). I honestly don't think either of us would be able to go. I can only say that based on the situation i'm in now. He & I both could never just pick up and leave our friends and family. Not to move to another country far from everyone we know and our way of life. I'd rather work extra hard and stay here in NY with all our family then pick up and move for a job. It would be too hard (for me).

I wouldn't been to keen on the idea if it was a country that wasn't too safe for the kids and us, but I would definietly support him. Learning a new language I wouldn't be thrilled with lol. The only thing that makes me nervous moving somewhere where we don't know anyone is what happens when we need a babysitter. I can't leave my girlies with a stranger, i think initially that would be a hard part for me.
ETA: I don't think I would mind because we both are itching to get out of NY

This is actually a really good question. This happened to my cousin’s wife like 3 years ago (1 year after they got married). She was offered a job to work in Alaska as a pharmacist. They would have paid her $1,000,000 sign on bonus, bought her a house to live in, and it was a 5 year commitment at a $75K salary (she makes about $125K normally). But then the million dollars was hers, and the house to sell (worth about $300,000). They declined. I totally would have done that. Especially since it was only a 5 year commitment. And Alaska, is still part of the US!!!!

We have already experienced this .... FH was in the Army for quite a few years and was based out in Seattle, Washington. We both traveled back and forth constantly to see eachother. When he got out of the Army, there were phenomenal job opportunites out in Washington for him with amazing pay and benefits. I come from a huge family who I am very close with, and I told FH that it was not even an option for me. I told him that if he chose to do that, that was fine, but I could not stay with him. He understood and respected me and my decision and came back to LI. Needless to say he has a crappy job that he hates but we make the best with what we have. Money comes second to having my friends and family. You can make money anywhere you go, but not new friends and family.

FH would never take it. He is very close to his family and would never leave them. When we moved in together, he moved with me about 45 minutes from his parents, and he complains to me all the time that we are too far. I wouldn't leave my family and friends either, the money isn't worth it to me to be all alone in a strange place.

One of my cousins is actually in Belgium for the next year (it was 3 years total) now is preggos . Considering FH is a chef that would be an amazzzzzing oppurtunity and would def. do it. Family and friends would visit when they could and I would make sure I came home as much as possible. Especially if money wasn't an option. I would make sure we had a plan though. 2 or 3 years tops. Plus it would be so amazing to travel more!

This is tough! My whole family lives here and we are very close!! I think if it happened now I would tell him to take it and I would go with him. However, if we had children I don't think it would be fair to relocate them so that would be a much harder decision.

I think it depends on where we are in our lives...if it happened right after we got married I think it would be exciting to go on an adventure for a few years, and for him to make a ton of money! Family can always visit, and it's not forever!
On the other hand, if it happened later on in our marriage when we have kids, I wouldn't feel right keeping our children away from our family

Thats a really tough question and Im going to be honest.. no money in the world would ever make me move so far away from all the people I love. Def not out of the country. Im VERY close with my family and VERY close with all of our friends. I would be totally miserable moving that far away... Now on the other hand if FH got an amazing job offer in another state and he REALLY wanted to take it.. I would do that for him.. but Id be very sad leaving

**I wrote my whole answer and then LIW had a breakdown or something and i lost it lol**
Anyway - I think FH and I would totally do it! We are young and at a point in our lives where doing such a thing would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. If it was something we felt would help us start our life for the better and provide opportunities that wouldnt normally be presented to us then sure why not??
Yes our family and friends are here but they will always be here - home will always be home. And with technology evolvoing there would be no way we wouldnt stay in touch.

FH wouldn't take it. He's waaaay too close to his family for that. The ONLY, and I mean ONLY place we would move for any extended period of time would be Ireland. Other than that...count us out!!
Good question

What i am about to say is completly opposite every one else. If FH was offerd a job for A LOT more money than he is making now i would have him jump on the opportunity. Yes it would take me far away from the ones i love but today there are so many ways of staying intouch with people it would not be hard to keep up with everythign going on here.
FH on the other hand would NEVER leave his family. he wont even move to Suffolk since its to far away for Sunday Sauce....

I kind of feel like I already did this, but I only moved 5 hours away!! I do love my new home and my new LIW girls!!
But yes, I would absolutely do it again. FH is the most giving person I know and I would do anything for him.

I'd go in a heartbeat! and I know my mom would come with me and that's all that matters! (and those of you that know me, know that I would jump at the chance to leave some ppl associated with us behind!)

Re: ***QOTD, Thurs, Sept 23***
FH's company has already made us move, NOT out of the country but out of the state. We moved from Long Island to Atlanta GA, and i almost had a heart attack, my entire family is home on LI and i CANT WAIT to move back, so the thought of leaving the country, i would never be able to do it.
