I know that we are all in the midst of still planninig and getting ideas for our weddings....
i thought we would all share any Unique, different or cultural things that we wanted at our weddings....
what makes YOUR wedding stand out? what are YOU doing different?
this can range from STDs to RDs and even Bachlorette parties! if you dont have anything different....you can always post things you have seen in prior brides or even online...I know we all could use some differnt ideas!

You should make these.... if you save your old bottles it's practically free, and really beautiful!
I can't open blogs on my work computer but I'll totally save the link and look when I'm on an open computer, thanks for helping!

I was actually going to surprise FH with Mr. Met coming but then I chickened out. I was like what if he would hate it.
The funny thing is his brother has brought up getting Mr. Met to use like 3 times. We just ignore him and change the topic>

We are doing a donation as the favor. FH father died of Parkinsons. I started a foundation for FH which supports Parkinsons research.
The Nader Rock-n-Rollover Parkinsons Foundation, Inc.
Some background on the name: Well Nader is his last name and Parkinsons for the purpose. The rock n roll stuff comes from his father's career. FH's father was a producer of Doo Woop concerts. FH basically grew up backstage of Madison Square Garden which is kind of cool.

Now the really unique thing I'm throwing around, I'm kind of scared even saying it here because it has to be a big secret from everyone not involved for it to be funny, is having a 50-75 person flash mob. There will be a TON of dancers at my wedding and we think it would be funny if like during salad or something I took the dance floor and started dancing to something really corny like Whip It or Can't Touch This and then two by two they all started going into the choreography. I don't know though.... funny or corny? I NEED OPINIONS! lol
It'd probably be both funny and corny, but people love things like that! And if it's well-executed, it's definitely something people will talk about! It's just a question of whether you can coordinate everyone ahead of time.
Not exactly a flashmob, but I love this: youtube link
Haha That was really cute.

FI and I are trying to make our wedding very 'us.' We want every detail to seem really personal. For the ceremony we are doing a non religious ceremony and our friend is going to marry us! I found a really cool idea for the ceremony that we plan on doing. It's kind of hard to explain. Basically you have the officiant hold a long ribbon from the middle. then the bride takes one side and the groom takes the other. the maid of honor and best man then run the ribbon on each side down the aisle. when they get to the back of the ceremony the place a ring on each side of the ribbon and ask everyone sitting in the aisle seats to push the rings down to the bride and groom. This is to signify the fact that everyone at the wedding had a hand in making the bride and groom who they are, so in a way those people helped bring the bride and groom together. I just think thats such a lovely way of looking at it.
FI and I both work in the music business so we are hoping to get one of our bands to play at the ceremony which would be amazing but we wont know if that will happen until much closer to the wedding.
Our theme is 'country vintage' Do you know know the song 'Home' by edward sharp and the magnetic zeros? I love the line 'Home is wherever I'm with you' we want the wedding to have that feel. our centerpieces are going to be loose looking flowers in mason jars and we will have a bunch of vintage touches everywhere.
I have a ton of tinny details that i wont go on about because this will get really long haha

FH is also jewish so I know he wants to do the chair thing which scares me... I dont wanna fall!!!!!!! lol
Haha, don't worry... I've been to tons of Jewish bar/bat mitzvahs and weddings, and I've never seen anyone fall. Just hold on to the chair with your hands (or, better yet, have them raise you in a chair with arms)! It's fun
Thats a GREAT idea! id feel sooo much better in a chair with arms!

We're not doing anything too different. We want it to be 'us'.
We're having a mansion style wedding. We also want to have color in our flowers and I will be wearing pink shoes and then switch into pink sandals. We're thinking of hiring a cigar roller for CH.

I don't know how different this really is, but FH and I love to travel and take pictures, so we thought that each table, instead of being a number, would be a place that we have traveled to (ie/Paris, Nice, Rome, Munich, Florida, South Carolina, etc.). On the table would be pictures of us from that location. We thought that this would give all our guests a little more insight into our lives and it could also serve as a conversation starter.

No problem! It takes a lot of newbies a while to learn how to post photos.
If a photo is already online (like the one on the blog), right click on it and click 'copy image url' (or something like that). It should look like a website url but end with a photo ending: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp. Then, when you're typing here on LIW, click 'insert web image' from the list under the emoticons and paste the image address there. And it should post! No worrying about resizing or anything.
The easiest way to post photos of your own (not from a website) is to upload them to a photosharing website like picasa or photobucket and then do the same thing.
Try reposting the wine bottle image and let me know if you get confused.
****yayyyy it worked! thanks for teaching me!!
anyway to get back on topic, they're really easy to make, and free once you finish your wine!

Re: QOTD: Thursday 1/6/11: Dare to be Different?
I will be walking down by myself which i guess that is not that different and before we start our wedding night we will be pouring some booze on the ground for the norwegian gods, my FH is norwegian we were going to that at the RH but we think that they will frown upon that so we will do that before we start our wedding night.
