Hi ladies!!!

My question for today is about our bling!!

1. Did you know you were getting engaged?

2. Did you design/pick out your ring? Or was it a total surprise?

I didn't really know I was getting engaged but I started to suspect things when FH started emphasizing how we have to save, etc.

I wasn't allowed to have any say on the ring except for the cut I wanted. I only knew I was getting a round diamond and the rest was entirely up to him. He did a great job though!

1. Did you know you were getting engaged?
I had no idea! I mean I knew eventually we would get engaged but I did not think it would be until another year or so. FH is 4 years younger than me and I figured he would want to wait. Especially since I was not pressuring him into proposing


2. Did you design/pick out your ring? Or was it a total surprise?
I did not pick out or design the ring although I have to say that if I was to it would be very similar to what he got me. He met my sister at the jewelry store that my mom works at and between the 3 of them they picked out the setting. Although the story goes that my mom and sister were pushing for a different ring but FH thought that I would like my ring better (he was right!)

1. Did you know you were getting engaged?
No, I knew that it was coming but I didn't think it was that soon. He really did surprise me and I cried sooo much of happiness!!!


2. Did you design/pick out your ring? Or was it a total surprise? I did get to pick out my ring. I had told him that it was my hearts desire since 2004 to get a ring from Mark Schneider with the secret heart trademark. Even though that I told him about my ring I really had no idea that he was going to get it since its custom made and its not a ring that you go and pick up it has to be ordered. Anyhow he really surprised me in getting me the ring that I had always dreamed of having

1. Ok.. I'll never admit this to FH but when he was in the shower once I opened his wallet and found this card from the jeweler. I figured that he had just stopped by because the week prior he had been to costco to get the tires fixed and it was across the street. I honestly didn't think that he was seriously looking. THEN on our way to the proposal spot, he was walking in front of me and I DON'T KNOW WHY, but I checked out his back pocket for a ring box and it wasn't there.
-- It was in his front pocket! I don't know why I looked, but it really was such a shock.

2. My original ring was a solitare with a regular band, and then we went together to pick out a new setting- he picked it out but wanted my concurrance. We have the matching wedding band too.

Kinda....I hinted that I wanted to get engaged in Disney during the fireworks......but that was like day 5 into the trip. I was a TOTAL CRAB, during the trip cause my FH made some comments about still havign to wait to buy the ring etc etc. But, then he totally surprised me and had the ring in his pocket the whole time!!!!

2. Did you design/pick out your ring? Or was it a total surprise?
I emailed my FH a picture of a ring i liked YEARS ago....he brought that picture to his guy and personally made one that was similar bu unque...its beautiful!

Well! my situation is totally different. I'm you can say 'unofficially' engaged b/c I still don't have my engagement ring Back in December FH went to ask for my hand in marriage with my parents. And they gave us their blessing. I thought since he went b/f my Dad left to Mexico for the holidays he would do it during Christmas or New Years. But that was not the case, My Dad left and came back and I still don't have my e-ring. But we are planning our wedding already. FH was really busy after the holiday's with finishing up his degree so he had the pressure of school and work. But now that he's done .. i've been seeing some movements on his part so hopefully soon I get my e-ring I hope

2. Did you design/pick out your ring? Or was it a total surprise?
FH knows what kind of ring I want b/c we went 'ring shopping' awhile back. Soo he knows the cut and size of the ring I want. It's just a matter of him purchasing it already and giving it to me. I feel like my whole 'engagement' is a secret or something b/c the only ppl that know i'm planning a wedding right now is my family, really close friends and of course my LIW girls thats it

*Yes I knew it was coming but wasn't sure when.

*We went looking a few times to different places. I picked out a few I liked & they wrote them down for FH. I pretty much stuck with the same style so he knew what I wanted. He picked out the last ring I tried on that I really loved & about 2 months later asked me

JRT5412, I am in the same situation I am not officially engaged yet either, however, we have our RH booked already. I picked out my ring in Oct and he has been paying it off since. I know its coming soon, Id say with in the next month. I know its coming but at the same time I want to be surprised and he knows this. Ive never been surprised with anything really. This is my 2nd marriage so it doesnt bother me we are doing things a little backwards LOL

Good to know i'm not the only one in the same situation!!!! It's frustrating for me at times b/c I want to tell everyone i'm getting married. But you know when you announced that they assumed you have a ring to show off as your engagement and well I don't have that yet. So that's why i haven't gone 100% public with the fact i'm getting married. We have a date, hall and are booking vendors but still no ring. FH keeps telling me it's coming. I know he truly wants to suprise me too b/c he's never really OMG Suprised me. So i'm trying to be patient but it's hard. LOL.

I knew we would be getting engaged within the next few months, but FH threw me off when he said he still needed time to save. He proposed Dec. 17th and I was thinking it would be closer to March.


FH knew that I wanted a round stone, and a plain band (was afraid I would hate a fancy band if he picked it out)...I got exactly what I asked for

Yes - I just didnt know when he was going to do it.

2. Did you design/pick out your ring? Or was it a total surprise?

I went ring shopping with him a few times and found the setting I have and let him know I REALLYYYY wanted that setting lol

Only my closest friends know. One of which is on here and is also in the same situation. But its def nice knowing your not the only one

1. I had no clue! I did have an idea that it was coming eventually but when it actually happened I was completely shocked!

2. I did not help FH with the ring, he did it all on his own! The stone is from my grandmother so he had to pick the setting, and he did an amazing job! I did drop him a few hints along the road, telling him which of our friends' rings i liked, and that I didn't like yellow gold.

I knew it was coming but didn't know when. I accidentally saw a text (yes, I SWEAR it was an accident! lol) saying that he was going to ask my parents permission in August last year. But months went by and nada! He kept telling me he wanted to wait until he graduated in May 2011, which made sense to me and I believed....mostly. :)

I did hope he might do it on our Disney trip for New years. So it was int he back of my mind and my stomach flipped the whole time we had our one lunch alone together, but he took me offguard and did it after that in front of everyone! lol

My ring is my paternal Great Grandmother's ring that was promised to me by my aunt early last year. I *love* it and I love it's history. There's a picture of it in my engagement album!

1-- I had an idea we would get engaged. I was not sure when. A friend had asked me what size ring I was (made something up she had rings she wanted to get rid of) but it was for FH to get me the promise type ring. he ordered a ring from the friend who asked me what size ring i wear (opps i must have chaged ring size casue it was a little to big) but any way we were out to dinner with friends for holidays and gift exchange and fh decided that we should do a gift with each other as well. he gave me the ring around a big teddy bear, asking me to spend the rest of lives together.


2-- he knew i wanted white gold so the ring he proposed to me with was stirling silver, a mth later we went looking for rings I wanted mine as a set so they fit together. so we got all 3 rings at the same time. his was not part of the set

1. I knew we would be getting engaged soon but I didn't know 100% when. I thought it would have been on our trip to Italy we took but it was 1 month before we left!

2. FH would e-mail me ideas of what he wanted for me. But I was still surprised of what it looked like when I got it. My ring is more beautiful than I ever imagined it would be!

I know there's all this fuss about the ring.... but I say that if he already asked your parents and you're already planning the wedding, you're engaged.

Try to enjoy this time when you're 'pre-engaged' and make a lot of your plans. The more people who know, the more dissenting opinions you get about what you 'should' be doing!

Same thing my close friends and family said to me!!! Who cares if you don't have a ring yet, he asked the most important for your hand in marriage. Your engaged!! LOL. Thanks for this.
