****__QOTD Tues 7/5__****

Original post by linda_art

Good Morning Sunshines!

Great News: Its Tuesday & its a short work week.

Gonna get right to it today...

How involved is FH with the wedding planning? Is there one thing he cares more about? Is he completely sitting back & gave you a budget that you have to stick to? Would you like him to more involved or less involved than he already is?

My FH is involved with every aspect. My mom died 7yrs ago and 2.5 yrs later my step mom died. I don't have much family around to help. I've actually been dreading wedding planning for years. If he wasn't involved I'd prob get nothing done. I think the fact that we are paying for everything ourselves also plays a huge role in him being involved so much. If someone else was paying and I had this huge budget, maybe I'd want him less involved bc he wouldn't like me spending a ton on all the little extras I'd want to add. Right now with the way things are, I'm perfectly happy with his involvement!

It went in waves kind of. He started off not involved at all and said 'I don't care, whatever you want' to everything I said. Then he became TOO involved breathing down my neck with every little thing. Now he is hands on but still giving me room to have what I want. I like it how it is now.

Very uninvolved, I initiate and organize everything. I try to keep him in the loop, but he doesn't listen, and then later if he figures something out he doesn't like he gets mad that I didn't tell him, when I did he just never remembers. lol It's a little frustrating actually.

He was very involved in the beginning though, with the hall and band which is all he said he wanted to be involved in anyway.

When I first said, 'I don't want it to be my day, I want it to be our day', I don't think he really believed me. When I agreed to the car bomb bar and PS3, he started to see I was serious. Now I have to rein in some of his ideas (I drew the line at a bright orange tux). He doesn't do research or appointment setting, but he has come to every appointment except florists and gowns. He is actually designing all of the paper materials (invites, STDs, programs, menus, you name it) so he is obviously interested in that. Overall, he's been pretty great.

He is semi-involved. There were only a few 'must haves' for him.

We had to get married on a Sat. night, at a venue with a good layout and good foot. And he didn't want any dark colors.

Other than that, he comes to the appointments with me (except florist) and I run everything by him. Sometimes he'll surprise me like when we were picking out our invites he said we HAD to have the pocket folds

ETA: He is really doing all the research for the honeymoon because he loves doing that stuff and getting the best deals .So with the honeymoon he is extremely involved.

fH has been involved with all the vendors but flowers. I have been doing all the little things but I run everything by him before I do it

I told him that I wanted him to be as involved or not involved as he wanted. It was important for me to have him involved with the veue and photographer. The rest i did not care one way or another

FH has been involved with the wedding planning. He really liked going to RHs to find the one that we loved the best. He hated the flowers. I had to drag him to the appointments. I also talk to FH before booking anything. I feel that its his wedding too and I want his opinion on everything.

FH is involved part-time since he is going to school full-time.
I usually need to ask him beforehand if we can set aside some time to talk about wedding related stuff.

He has been very involved.

We looked at all of the venues together and he made a spreadsheet with all of the information (this way we didn't have to keep all of the booklets and we could save on space/clutter)
He made a guest list spreadsheet. He made a budget sheet and as we make our payments he updates it.

He has done research for vendors when I've asked him. (Even though I felt like I shouldn't have to ask, but he isn't a mind reader, so we let this one slide)

We have gone to all of the vendors together and made the decisions together. FH has been most interested in the venue, DJ and the limos.

I spoke to FH regarding my dress. He doesn't know what the dress looks like, but I wanted to make sure that he knew how much the dress/alterations were going to cost, etc...He said he actually preferred if I'd have kept all of that to myself.

I'm excited that he is involved because it's our day and I feel like it should be a good representation of both of us.

FH is involved more than I thought he would be... he is especially concerned with the honeymoon

FH is involved in everything we have done so far and I love it. He's in contracting and design so I appreciate his opinions on things and he has a great sense of style and attention to detail

He really wants me to have what I want and I want him to have what he wants too. Believe it or not, FH is most excited about flowers. They have a sweet, personal meaning for him so I am especially excited for THIS aspect of planning. He's a much better negotiator than I am so I have NOOOOO problems passing that responsibility off to him when the time comes.

Once we start dealing with the 'little things', I'll be doing those on my own.

FH actually set the budget after doing some research and he's actually been pretty dead on! I have an excell spreadsheet with 2 columns...our estimated and our actual.
