So Today's Part of our Wedding Theme is...

SAVE THE DATES!

--------------------------------------------

Part One:
Were there any other dates that you and FH wanted or considered to get married on before you selected your wedding date?

Part Two:
In lieu of 'saving the date', If you could go back in time and give yourself advice, what 'date' or age would you go back to and what would you tell yourself?

We wanted to get married September 2012 over the holiday weekend because WM had it open and I didn't want to wait longer... but now I'm glad we chose the Spring and I'm happy for the extra time!

To go back in time... I'd go back to college and tell myself to either take off a year or really really think about what career I want. I wouldn't have changed my major 3 times if I did that!

We were given a couple of days in March that were open and picked this one out of the blue and the realized it was the day before St.Patty's day so that works out

1) We had discussed August 18, 2012 because both of our birthdays fall on the 18th on months and August is the month we first started going out.. Then we discussed using a date in June because the temperature is nicer.. then we decided September because of the holiday weekend!

2)OMG.. the only thing I can really think of would be to go back to when I was 17 and tell myself to get over this scumbag I was dating.. I was obsessed.. why are we so dumb when we're young!

We originally wanted Sat Oct 5th but Sunday was so much cheaper so we moved our wedding 1 day later to the 6th.

If I could go back in time to give myself advice it would be to when I was 24 rs old and had just got hired FT at my job that I am at now. The advice would be to have saved $$ and start putting $$ into my 401k right away.

I was always able to save for a specific reason or item but never just for a rainy day or for my future. I finally got smart and started BUT If I would have started from the beginning my savings acct would be way better and Id have a lot more in my 401k but hey, its better late then never.

1. We wanted October 12, 2013 (our 10 year anniversary will be Oct 11, 2013), but our church has confirmations the first 3 weeks of October and couldn't guarantee us times until NEXT APRIL.

2. I would never change anything I did in my life, but I think I might tell my college aged self to save some more money instead of spending every penny at Bloomingdale's.

1) we wanted to do 9/27 because it's our anniversary date and it was also a friday night... but it is my fw's brother's 10th wedding anniversary and it wouldn't be nice or fair to them!

2) do NOT buy a house yet! LOL damn housing market.

1- Originally I wanted a fall wedding and didn't want to wait until fall of 2013. Luckily we decided to go with March 2013 instead because in January FH was in the hospital for 2.5 weeks. I would've been so stressed out.

2- Everything happened for a reason.

1. We really wanted October ish, but ended up on November because the price difference for putting it off a couple of weeks was crazy! So we took November 2, and we love the date.

2. I would definitely go back to when I was about 20, and change my major in school to go into a field that makes more money, ( I work for a non-profit) so yeah, also I was bartending during college all the time and made SO SO much money a night..not sure where that all went though, so I would go back and bank it all!!

1.) I originally wanted an October wedding, but it would be way too difficult with work around that time. Then we picked September 20th, but then I changed my mind because I wanted a Friday night wedding & I thought it would be too dark & cold by the time cocktail hour started.... soooo we went to May 31st! I wanted anything but Summer haha

2.) I would go back to my 20 year old self, that's when I was cast in an Off-Broadway show & met my first real boyfriend. I would tell myself enjoy being in the show for the next year and don't get overly attached to this guy. There was noooo future there! (he ****** my bank account dry because after the show closed, he didn't like having a job & wound up moving back home to Colorado.... looooooser! )

We were open to any date. We picked this one bc we were able to get Sunday rates when everyone has off from work on Monday. So it was a no brainer.

Umm there are so many things I would have told myself at so many different points but I feel like it all happened for a reason.

We wanted to get married Oct/Nov 2012, but decided to push it to March 2013 for the extra time.

I would go back to my freshman year in college and do things differently... Oh, if only we could go back in time.

1. We wanted to get married in May and we thought the Sunday before Memorial Day would be good because a lot of people should have the Monday off.

2. If I could go back in time I would go back to my college years. I would have saved more money especially the money I got back from financial aide freshman year. I would also not open up all the credit card accounts I did while I was in college.

Our date is the only one we considered. I don't like the summer in general, and FH didn't want to have a summer wedding - we'd just spend our whole vacation stressing over wedding details so it wouldn't be fun. I knew I wanted October of 2013 because it's my favorite month and I'll have gone through my tenure year by then so no stress with that either. We figured since we teach, do Saturday over Columbus Day weekend and that's what we got Also, it's the day before my niece's birthday and I'm *super* pumped to get her a surprise cake at the wedding.

I'm not sure what I would change - there are tons of things I'd like to, but everything that happened brought me to where I am and life is pretty great But I would take back all the stress I ever caused my parents as an awful, awful teenager lol

This is so true. I agree!

We considered Nov. 2012 to get a good deal, but we needed more time to save up.

I would go back to when I graduated from college to tell myself to work harder at paying my student loan. I'm doing okay now, but I can't help but think of all the time I wasted!

1. I knew I wanted summer, most likely July. The only other date I would have wanted would be the Saturday after my date but we are getting more for our money on Friday night and we will have more time to spend with our OOT family because it's 4th of July weekend.

2. I would definitely go back in time and tell myself not to sweat the small stuff and to get over heartbreak so much quicker than I actually did. I've always wanted to be in love and get married and I saw everyone I dated as 'the ONE' so when it didn't work out, I was heartbroken. I can look back in hindsight and see and appreciate why they weren't right, but going through it I was a mess. I would have liked to get over it a lot quicker but I guess all the heartbreak has brought me to where I am today, 100% positively in love and marrying my best friend!

Re: ~*~*QOTD Tuesday, 3/13/12*~*~

We were original going to do a May wedding but we decided the price was just not worth it. April is a crazy month with birthdays so that brought us to March. March 18 is our anniversary but it was a monday so we went with the 23rd.
I don't know if I would change much if I went back in time. I would be afraid of being in a worse place. But I might tell myself not to waste so much time on certain exs and friends and spend more time with others.
