Same here. My theory is that 'Ann' is just a place-filler and parents just use it when they don't want their kid to be that 'weird' kid with no middle name

This is why I don't feel bad about making my last name my middle name and taking FH's last name

ETA: Though my mother SWEARS she put thought into picking 'Ann'

My first name is AnnMarie but most people think Marie is my middle name. Because of this, when I get married, I will officially make it my middle name and Ann will be my first name - I don't like how AnnMarie sounds with my new last name - Ann works much better.
