My FW is always pointing out how superstitious I am. My grandmother plays a huge role in my life and she always told me all these old wives tales and I swear by them to this day. I freak out whenever someone puts a box on a bed (it’s supposed to represent death somehow), I try not to bake when it’s that time of the month…you know stuff like that.So my question is…What old wives tales or superstitions or even just cultural traditions besides the “Something old, something new, borrowed and blue” are you planning on or have incorporated into your wedding day? I hate spiders and wish death to them all. But they say if you kill a spider – it will rain on a day you don’t want it to. So from now till July 11th all spiders get a pass. Then also if it does rain that morning, I will hang a rosary on a clothes line so that it (hopefully) clears up by show time. (Even though they also say it's a good luck if it rains in the am and clears up for the nuptuals.)

FH CANNOT see me before the wedding! I'm staying in our bridal suite the night before and he wont get his 'first look' until I am walking down that isle. He was in total agreement but when he found out that means we would miss cocktail hour for pics, he kinda waivered a bit. But I said 'nope,' they will save us whatever food u may want.....and I'm not chancing anything to make things more convenient for us....or for you to have your sausage and peppers! :)

my FH is irish, and his mom and all of his aunts keep saying 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in your shoe' they said it's an irish tradition that if you put a silver coin in your shoe and wear it for the wedding day that you will never be without money... So, when I got engaged, his aunt gave me this little cinderella slipper with a silver coin that belonged to his grandfather. She collected like 50 silver coins from back in the day to save for these occasions lol- So i plan to tape it under the arch of my foot in the shoe so that I can't really feel it. I'd imagine that would be kind of annoying to feel a coin in your shoe the whole night!

Agreed with FH not being able to see me until I'm walking down the aisle!

Doing a reveal shot before the wedding but we will capture the first look on film. We will be apart from the night before until the reveal.

We're actually having a very un-traditional wedding. My dad is dead so my day will NEVER be the day I dreamed it would be since I was a little girl. Also, since my life has been pretty un-traditional I decided that I'm not doing anything 'by the book.' Lol. We're not doing parent dances, our daughter is walking me down the aisle giving me away to daddy (I could cry every time I think about it) no flower girl or ring bearer. It's going to be totally us though. And I can't wait!!

I always say I'm an old soul…I'm very traditional. Our whole wedding is basically traditional. We're still not living together and while we have a place that we're detailing now, FH will live there before me and I'll move in officially after the wedding. We're getting married at the church and FH will not be seeing me before the wedding. Even when it came to our invitations - I didn't want anything with any bold colors I just wanted it classic and simple and the place where we got them totally exceeded my expectations. I guess none of this is really a superstition or old wives tale, but more just things that I've always envisioned for my wedding and didn't want to change now that the time is actually here

Hahaha, yea, I lost the battle of not seeing each other before the ceremony. My FW HATES pictures, so the deal was we could do pictures as long as she didn't miss cocktail hour. I've heard about the six pence and even though I'm not Irish, hey it can't hurt.

I have a friend that felt that same way when her mother passed. I love the idea of your daughter giving you away. We're not doing a first dance. It's not us...waaayyy too much attention on us.
