A couple got engaged during your reception? Would you feel as though they are stealing your thunder?

Curious to see what everyone's thoughts are.

This comes from a converstion last night between myself, Tricia & Jeanine.

good question. if it was someone really close to me I would be THRILLED for them and happy to share my spotlight (for a few mimutes only! lol)

if it were some random distant guests that would piss me off!!!!!!

we didn't have any 'random' guests, only very close friends and family... so if it happened at my wedding, I would have been so happy for the couple

I can't see a friend actually getting engaged at your wedding but a relative and I would be mad that's my day!!!

Yeah, I'd be mad.

I did once see a friend who got engaged a few days before a wedding and she told the bride and groom that day, but otherwise didn't make a fuss about it. The bride and groom were happy about it. I think that some people could have botched that one up also.

It depends if it was my sister or a super close friend.
If it was someone that am I not close with, I wouldn't get mad, I would get even. I would give the new couple a 'gift'...the bill for half my reception cost.

It might be fun if the couple got engaged in a quiet way and didn't tell anyone and then told you later, like called you the day after the wedding. It would make for a great post story without stealing your thunder.
