A couple got engaged during your reception? Would you feel as though they are stealing your thunder?

Curious to see what everyone's thoughts are.

This comes from a converstion last night between myself, Tricia & Jeanine.

I think it would be in extremely poor taste for another couple to do that do the bride and groom. Yes, it would be stealing my thunder and wouldn't be cool at all. If they want to get engaged, let them wait until AFTER the wedding reception.

i would definitely be annoyed - that would be really inappropriate. plus, how unimaginative must the guy be to propose at someone else's wedding!!?

I feel like there is a time and place for everything. I belive that at someone elses wedding that it is not the time nor place. JMO

It might be fun if the couple got engaged in a quiet way and didn't tell anyone and then told you later, like called you the day after the wedding. It would make for a great post story without stealing your thunder.

I agree on this one and if they were close friends. I don't like the spotlight on me all that much so as long as the guy cleared it with us and we knew the girl would say yes then it's OK- weddings are celebrations of love!

At one of FH co-workers weddings the best man announced his engagement during his speech- I thought that was tacky.

If FH best friend/best man gets engaged around our wedding time we'll announce it at our wedding. I love good news and as long as it's me and FH choosing to share our spotlight it's cool....otherwise NOT COOL!
