Queens

Queens

We are just at the very beginning stages of starting to look for a condo or co-op in Queens - we were thinking Forest Hills or Kew Gardens. Right now, we are looking at craigslist.org to find open houses on the weekends just to mostly look at the different neighborhoods.

Does anyone have any other good websites to look at for those areas? Are there other areas of Queens that are nice and close to transportation to the city?

We were looking in Hoboken as well, if anyone has information on that area as well.

Thanks!

Lisa,

You can also check newsday.com (always list open houses) (sorry I can't help you out w/ other sites).

I have lived in Queens all my life though and would also recommend Bayside (24 minute ride on the LIRR), Douglaston, Whitestone and Little Neck.

Re: Queens

My MOH's FH is in real estate and deals largely in Forest Hills and Kew Gardens - FM me if you want his contact info.

Also, I live in FH right now. Almost all of the co-op buildings have a sign with a telephone number on them, maybe it'd be worth taking a drive in and walking around, taking down the numbers of the buildings you like. Just a thought.

I lived in Kew Gardens a few years ago too. I love it there and it'll be way less expensive than Forest Hills for that area as well.

I'm currently in Astoria, looking to move out of my coop after the wedding and look for a 2/3 family in either Astoria or Bayside...
Have u considered either of those?
Astoria is superquick to the city.

I was about to mention Astoria -- I was there this past weekend and a really quick ride into the city.

www.yhd.com has listings in Queens too. We finally decided on Suffolk county but for a while we were thinking of either Forest Hills or Bayside. They are both really nice- Bayside is supposed to be in one of the best school districts in the city i think.

Re: Queens

i grew up in queens too. one thing to consider is the schools if you want/have kids. i grew up in the bayside/fresh meadows area and loved it! just ask what your local zoned schools will be before you buy. sometimes the rego park/forest hills/kew gardens area is mislabeled too, so double check on the usps zip code - i have seen this done alot (people think if they list it as certain neighborhoods, they can get more $$)

good luck!
