We were going to get married at Immaculate Conception in Jamaica Estates. Pretty church and the aisle was a mile long! Problem was that they wouldn't be able to accomodate us on our date.

is that the church that is right across the street from mary louis? thats where i went to school and they had a church across the st that was soooo huge and beautiful!!

i'm getting married at St.Catherine Church in Astoria. It;s a Greek-Orthodox church. What's your religion? what kinda church are you looking for?

My friend had her wedding at St Catherines and the decor is sooo pretty there, very nice

they're actually fixing the exterior so it's going to be even prettier when it's done. i'm so excited!!

what church...?

We are using Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Richmond Hill.

It wasnt difficult because it is FH's church.

I went to school at OLPH and the church is not as nice as it used to be. They added some kind of stage, so they cut the long aisle in half.

Nativity and Gate of Heaven are both beautiful church's....The only thing is that they are both located on fairly busy streets. I live on Long Island now, but because I never 'officially' joined a parish, I might have to go back to Queens (which I don't mind, lol) . I think I would go to Gate of Heaven - it's huge and has a nice long aisle... and 101st Ave is not as busy as Rockaway Blvd.

Re: queens girls...

can u go to any catholic church or are u suppose to have all your sacraments done there? although that wouldnt make sense bc fh and i made them at different churchs so what if we dont want to go to either church...do most churchs not allow that??

i dont think it matters which church you made the sacrements in.. as long as you made them.

I wasnt baptized in the same church I made my communion/ confirmation in.

You can go to any church you want. If they need to check if you have all your sacrements they will call your church or have you get a letter signed from your church stating you have them. St. andrews isn't my church it's FH's church. My church is St. Mels. But I don't like the way it looks inside. It's to modern. And there really is no Aisle to walk down. I Love the way St. Andrews is.

When I was looking for catholic churches they all said you had to be a member of the church to get married there.

That's the problem I'm having on Long Island. I went to a few churches and they told me I shouldn't be 'church shopping', I should go back to my parish. So my mom joined the church I liked ...but I have to wait until she's a member for 3 months before I can inquire about the date!! It's unreal...I went to catholic school my whole life and now they're giving me such a hard time! A few of my friends that still live in Queens didn't have this problem. They just picked which church they wanted to get married in.

Fh is working on getting his first marriage annulled, so we can get married in a Catholic church. If all goes well, we're going to use St. Andrew's, the parish where I grew up. But, since we've already booked our reception hall, if St. Andrew's can't acomodate our date, I guess we'll be church shopping, too! Glad to hear that any Catholic church in Queens will welcome us!

I am gettin married at OLG. It was where I was brought up.

me too! i didnt want to at first (wanted something prettier, but im happy i decided to stick with it now)

i have heard some people have trouble getting married at a parish outside of your own - i guess it depends on how strict the mosignor there is
