wait where on 42nd street? down by the lower aves or upper aves? uhmmmm you know who lives there...It is all the way by the end and theres only all types of companies and at night its dead around there...but yeah im on 42nd street quiet often and stay there ALOT!!!

ETA: Sorry, that wasn't meant to be rude, that was meant in a 'oh crap, so it's not 42nd St., it's around the corner from me.' Bottom line is you just really shouldn't walk around at night alone, anywhere. Cause honestly, that is a really nice, quiet, family-oriented area. Everyone watches out of for one another, at least around my apt. That's why it makes me upset that that happened there.

Here i found an article, it says it happened on 26th street:

NEW YORK - Police are searching for a man in Astoria, Queens, after a 27-year-old woman said she was held at knifepoint and sodomized Sunday night. The alleged victim was walking on 26th Street around 11 p.m. when a man in dark clothing approached her and demanded money, which she handed over, she said.

The woman said she was then forced into an alleyway where she was held at knifepoint and sodomized.

The woman is currently in stable condition at a local hospital. The Queens sex-crime police unit is investigating.

Police described the suspect as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 150 pounds. They said he was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.

Harry Biolsi, who lives across the street from the scene of the alleged attack, was watching television when he heard the victim's cries for help.

'She was running and she stopped the first car and yelled, 'Help. I was robbed!'' said Biolsi. 'And I believe she said she was assaulted -- I wasn't sure.'

Area residents said 11 p.m. wasn't an unusual time for women to be walking around the neighborhood.

'It's certainly not the type of area where this would normally happen, but you have to be prepared for it to happen, no matter where you're at,' said Noel Hunter.

Guardian Angels were patrolling the area Monday, aiding in the lookout for the attacker.

omg sweetie, be careful! Try to avoid at night if you can or bring pepper spray (i'm usually law abiding but ***!!) I HATE commercial areas like that (if it's the area i'm thinking about) b/c of this exact reason. They are so empty late afternoon/evening that it makes me soooo nervous!!
