FH and I planning to buy a house after we get married in queens. What are some of the better areas for families? Any help would be awesome. I'm not familiar with queens so I thought I ask my lovely brides to be for some advice!

Yep those areas are great. Also Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale. Ridgewood is good too, cept I think its for the most part 2 and 3 family houses.

Beware, it's expensive. We live in Flushing but our little area is called Auburndale... we live in fh's dad's house which we will probably eventually buy at a discount. He was almost going to sell it when we moved in and it was on the market for over $700,000! Bayside is also really nice, Whitestone, Fresh Meadows.
Move near me Ryan! We'd have so much fun together!

Re: Queens girls...what areas are the best?
I grew up in astoria and LOVE this area, problem with astoria though is if you buy a house in astoria youre looking at $700,000 and up...SOME ive seen for $600,000 but normally thats what they're starting at now so not all are in the greatest condition. And not like you get a big house for this money either. On Dh's block all the houses are about $800k-900k and they are normal one family houses. If you get an apartment its a bit better. I like astoria bc mostly where the houses are its residential but then you have big commercial areas with lots to do PLUS its SOOO close to the city
I live in the kew gardens/forest hills area. Its also a great neighborhood. Houses can be expensive though, apartments though theres co-ops and condos EVERYWHERE and at great prices. FOrest hills houses can get very pricey, some areas if you find it for 800k its a good price. Ive seen some in kew gardens for $500-600k havent seen it for lower. If you are looking for an apartment though, more than any neighborhood in queens, this is the best area to get one bc there are SO many and can find it in all price ranges. Also convenient to the city, you have the LIRR which is real quick, then the nyc trains about 30 mins or so into the city so not that bad.
theres also bayside and whitestone. Whitestone can also be VERY pricey and even more pricey than many areas. They also have apartments though that you can find for a good price. The only thing is the commute. There are no trains, you do have the LIRR so that can be your way to get into the city. Otherwise theres the 7 train in flushing but you have to take a bus to.
One of my favorite areas now is LIC. Unfortunately they have now tried to make it into another williamsburg or very city like so the prices can be insane. ive been looking non-stop and for an apartment its about $700-800k for 1 bedroom but these are in the new high rise luxury buildings. If you find a 2 family or other multi family house and get an apartment in there its alot better. But the neighborhood is amazing and youre like 10 mins from the city.
Are you planning on buying a house or apartment? Houses in queens are pretty expensive, many start at around $600k. SOme neighborhoods you can find for less. Our real estate agent was telling us an area not far from where i am now that they have houses for about $400k which is good for queens. I am trying to remember the area but i know it was close to rego park and by forest hills. You can go on sites so you can get an idea of prices for certain neighborhoods, ive been using MLSLI.COM. Or if you google, houses or apartments for sale in queens you'll get tons of sites, theres also carrollo real estate.
I have lived in queens my whole life, and have been searching for a year for a new place, so if you need any info let me know. Although all my research and going to look at places now seems like it was pointless bc Dh was just told he has to work in LI now so looks like were moving to the island soon
