Ok-We are thinking of moving into Queens but we need to be as close to the throgs neck bridge as possible and of course in a nice area.
FH has a contracting business and works in Manhattan, Westchester and Conn. and I teach in Long Island. FH will be the one driving in traffic so If he doesn't have to be on the cross island for long that would be helpful.
if you girls can give me some ideas I'd appreciate it, thanks!

Re: Queens question
also look into Flushing, college point, and fresh meadows ... they're very close to the Throggs Neck Bridge, too.

Re: Queens question
FH and I just moved to Queens from Nassau County.. but definately look into Glen Oaks. It's right on the border of Nassau/Queens (easy commute for you) and its super close to the Grand Central and the LIE. It's very quiet and safe, and convenient to shopping, etc.
Hope that helps.. (even though I have no clue how far we are from any bridges.. I'm really bad with direction like that)

did you mean little neck instead of great neck? little neck is closer to the bridge, and is still part of queens.

Re: Queens question
but since great neck is part of nassau county, your property taxes skyrocket.
and while great neck is right next to little neck, GN is technically farther from the throggs neck bridge, that's all i was saying

Re: Queens question
thanks everyone. We want to be as close to the bridge as possible. the less fh has to go on the cross island the better! we first were looking in throgs neck which is nice too so if we can be right on the other side of the bridge that would work also.

Re: Queens question
whitestone and bayside are both nice...how will you get to work, driving? or public transportation bc this is the only problem with both areas...although bayside does have a LIRR station
