We use to hang out with the guy Mike. He was so ITALIAN he even drove the brand new trans am.

WE called him Guido we never called him Mike.My dad was like is that his real name and we were like no its Mike but we always call him Guido. He thought it was funny and never got offended.

So my answer is no.

WOP stands for without papers ---

it refers to the early immigrants, saying that they were dirty, diseased, unwanted/unsponsored to come to America.

Don't worry..I'm 27 and have immigrant parents and didn't know what this meant..

I don't think I would be offended by the word Guido...unless it was used in a racist way...like someone else mentioned..

Ro, I remember that..

ETA - if my parents had a boy...my dad's mind was set on naming him Guido or Bruno.. How embarrassing!!!!!!!!!

nahhhhhhhhh

unless it was preceded or followed by other nasty comments

i think Goomba is worse

OOOOH I hate that word...Goomba

Guido wouldn't bother me as much. I guess it all depends on who says it and how it's said.

Re: Question.......

It depends. I think Guido is less a derogatory term agasint all italiamns than a description of a type f perosn or clique as someone stated, like what they'd call a greaser in the 50's. it is stereotyping, but I don't think it implies anything bad about anyway, it just brings to mind certain characteristics, certain clothes, cars and music one might drive. I often avoid certian srestaraunts etc in my area b/c of 'too many guidos' I'm not prejudiced agaisnt italians at all. I AM Italian. It's like me saying I don't like to go to gold's gym b/c thre are too many muscleheads. Same thing. nothing against them..just not my crowd. People could say they don't want to hand out where I hang out 'too many nerds'...whatever. it's not 'right'...but it's stereotyping, I don't think it's really racial. I wouldn't take that comment to mean they don't like italians. maybe they just don't want to hear KTU blasting until the wee hours
