Question

OK, I need opinions. My FH and I have both been married before, and are going to be having a small wedding (approx. 50 or 60 guests). We both love Montauk, and have talked about possibly getting married there, in either August or Septmeber. We live in Port Jeff Station, and mosts of the guests live in the vicinity.
My question is, do you think that it's too much to ask for people to drive all the way to Montauk?????

Re: Question

Not at all. I am sure you are having close friends & family & if they really care & love you both, which I am sure they do, then they will drive to your wedding
Check out hotels, block rooms and plan a great wedding!
PS- I love Montauk too!

Re: Question

How far of a drive is it? Sorry, I am not familiar with the Island.

My guests have to travel at the most 45 min to and hour. I am not worrying about it. My ceremony and reception are in one place so they only have to travel once.

You have such a small group which I assume is family and close friends. I think they would understand the travel time.

Re: Question

The only problem might be hotel rooms, since people book starting a year before.

Try this for a pretty comprehensive list of east end properties. LI Lodging Guide

Re: Question

Yes, it's all close friends and family. The ride is about an hour and a half. We've asked a couple of friends and they said the same thing, that they'd travel as far as we wanted, which is nice. It's just an option, but I wanted everyone's opinions.

Thanks!

Re: Question

Montalk is beautiful. I dont think it is that big of a drive. If they are staying in one place they shouldt have a problem. If they love you they will come.

Re: Question

Dont feel too bad about the drive - I am getting married July 5 at Gurney's Inn in Montauk and most of my guests are staying overnight. It is my dream place to get married and somewhat 'different' so I think it would be perfect for a second wedding. You can also look into Montauk Yacht Club or Montauk Manor (but neither are as nice as Gurney's IMO). FM if you have any questions. Good Luck!

Re: Question

I don't think it's too far. (I have been to weddings all over the country and never thought twice about the distance)

I would definitely look into hotels though - some guests may want to make a weekend out if, esp in August/Sept when traffic can be heavy.
