Question about dogs and hardwood/pergo floors

Does anyone have a dog and have hardwood floors? We are ripping up our carpet and i want to put hardwood floors but i am afraid that the dog will scratch them up.

Does pergo scratch also? I like hardwood better but i will put pergo if i have to.

I have a dog...that is why we decided to get Pergo and not the hardwood floors. Pergo does not scratch like the hardwood

I don't know the answer to your question but a funny oddity for dogs & hardwood/pergo...

My FBIL has pergo/laminate and the sound the dogs makes when walking on the floors drives his entire family batty - click, click, click from the dogs nails all over the floor. They say it gets under their skin, especially when the dog paces between rooms. Don't know if that would bother you, but just thought I'd share in case it was something that would.

Hershey in full tap dance is when we know she seriously needs a trip to the groomer!!

We have hardwood floors and three dogs. I really don't notice any scratching of the wood. But maybe I'm just not looking!

We have laminate flooring and a really crazy and hyper dog. No scratches are on the floor and no, the noise from the dog walking on it does not bother me, don't really notice it.

We have hardwood floors, 2 active dogs and no scratches.

My husbnd is a floor layer and he NEVER recommends pergo, he sees so many problems with them, they lift and move and are a waste of money, he always says go with hardwood floors, if you get the pre-finished hardwood floor it is finished the right way directly from the manufacturer so it dhould not show too many scratches.

One recommendation, get a light color wood, darker wood shows more scratches.

oops, sorry if I offended people who recently had pergo floors put in, they look really nice , they're just not as durable as hard wood floors, but they look the same!!!
