Also When is it time to go BM shopping?? Wow I cannot believe we are getting married NEXT YEAR

Nina - I dont think thats tacky. My mom said she will pay for my dress but I know I am going to want to spend more money than she thinks. SO i told her she could contribute to it. You shoud have the dress you want.

Yeah I agree, and who knows...she may want to splurge

Nina- I'm doing the same thing. The Justina McCaffrey gown I want is double what my mom is willing to spend, so we're going to split it. Not tacky at all, IMO.

Re: Question about dress shopping

I found my dream dress recently. It won't be available in stores until February so I'm going t try it on however it's a Lazaro and has lots of beading and embellishments so I may have to have a replica made. I just can't afford to pay 5K for my wedding dress.

If you plan to lose a lot of weight, I would wait to order just so that you won't have to pay way more for alterations and then you can order a smaller dress and probably need less alterations.

Re: Question about dress shopping

I went to a few stores for my dress and Bridal Reflections in Carle Place too k very good care of me. They even discounted the dress even though when I was there I didn't get it. They called a few weeks later to follow up about why I didn't order it and I told them that it was out of my budget. They took $500 off the dress! It was a $1500 Jim Hjelm..I couldn't believe it.

I'm sorry I don't have pics on the computer but I had a very good experience with them.

Re: Question about dress shopping

I already purchased my gown,(well my mother did). I wasn't even looking to buy, I just wanted to see what was out there, but after I tried this dress on, I fell inlove with it,and that was it. Also,it'll take 6 to 8 months to come in.Some dresses take even longer. I'm soo excited!!!

Re: Question about dress shopping

I think I found my dress... although I didn't order yet, although this is probably it, i am still having fun trying on dresses! :) This also reinforces the fact that although it was only the 2nd dress I tried on, it's the one for me!

I recommend Lillette's Bridal in Baldwin on Merrick Road. They are soooo nice and helpful in there. I walked in and said, 'I'm not buying now, I just want to loook.' Even so, they were SOOOO helpful. The woman in there put me into the right bra/corset thing and the slip.... just to try on!!! it really makes you see how it really is going to look when you wear it that day. a lot of other places just throw the dresses on you without the 'proper foundations' (as my mom would say!) ;) They were also so helpful finding dresses for me... I wasn't sure what I wanted and she kept bringing things out that would look good on me--and she was right! she also helped me in and out of all the dresses and she couldn't have been nicer. they were not pushy or rude and found me beautiful dresses within my price range.

they also do brdiesmaid dresses and veils and headpieces. I will be getting my dress there!
