Hello All, I've been trying to find a place for my e party and last night I pretty much decided on a place (I held the date). It's at Villa Russo's in Richmond Hill, Queens (A lot of you from LI prob don't know this place, but its beautiful!) He gave us a pretty good deal and we want it sooner than later. The date we picked was the Sun, May 29th b4 Memorial Day. My fiance is concerned a lot of people won't show bc its mem. day weekend, but I'm not that concerned, lol. what do you guys think???
Also, does anyone know where I can invitations fast!!!!

lovemealways.com for invitations. I am ordering mine from there. They have a really cute ring box invite on sale for $1.50 until April 30.

First….That place is nice, and it’s down the block from my house!!!
I’d get a survey of the people you most want to be there and see if they have any problems with that date. What time of day would you have it?
For invites, you can always make them yourself. I did mine, bought the paper at Pearl Paint and printed them at home (printed cards and envelopes). Here is a link to my post w/ pics of the Invites I did.
FM if you have any questions.

Re: Question about E Party
hello mskitty! i should have visited you last nite, lol. i've been there numerous times and i know we've talked about the beach club, but i did wanna go someplace i had been before. plus he gae us a good deal for a sit down dinner (my mom knows him). we are trying roma view tonite, and if they do cheaper, then we will go w/them. this is horrible to say but i hope ppl arent cheap bc me n my fiance are payin for it ourselves and we will use that money towards the wedding, of course! how much do ppl give for engagement parties usually? its been so long since ive been to one.
thanks for the link to the invites, they are so cute :)

Re: Question about E Party
when i booked my date (it was just at a firehouse)...it conflicted with a couple of family members and I got grief over it....so I would call and make sure that it is an ok date just in case!

Less People = Less Money!
Also, a lot of people don't go away for Memorial Day anymore - especially in NY.

: ) My FSIL had her ex-husband's 30th b-day at Roma View on a Friday night, and she said it cost $3000 for the place and a DJ. And that was 3 yrs ago!

I did this, however I only asked my parents and FH's parents. I wanted to make sure THEY could be there. I told FH the E-Party was the ONLY thing I would 'bend' on for others. For the wedding, we picked the date and time that WE wanted.

Re: Question about E Party
Memorial Day weekend should be fine, anyone who can't make it can send you a gift or visit you personally if they want.

Both places are really nice. My sister just went to a wedding at Villa Russo and said the food was good. I live close by and like both of them. I hope you get a good price!!

Re: Question about E Party
don't worry about the date. I got married on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
This is what I realized: It doesn't matter what day/date/holiday a party is held on. The people who WANT to be there will make sure they are there!
You'll be fine!

Re: Question about E Party
UPDATE*** sposarse-it is about $54pp on a FRIDAY nite....since thats all they had.
i'm sad-the whole thing is that my mother wants to pay for our E Party, and she feels like we are paying too much at places like villa russo, roma view, etc. and should have it at like a knights of columbus or someting like that, cuz it will be cheaper and we will make some money. she feels if she pays 5000 for a party, and we only make back 3000 she coulda jsut gave us 5k to go toward the wedding. i agree, but i dont want to have it at someplae that looks cheap.
can anyone offer an opinion on this? OR if someone can suggest a hall like this... how is the knights of columbus in oceanside? :( im so frustrated!

Re: Question about E Party
Just my personal opinion.... but I didn't have an engagement party and some people sent me money but it wasn't necessary. I got all the gifts I could ever need for our house at my bridal shower. I don't really think you need to have an engagement party...take the money and have a super slamming band or photographer at your wedding!! People with give you tons at your wedding. I just felt weird making people give me something three times, e-party, shower and wedding.

Re: Question about E Party
I just FMed you about the KOC BUT keep in mind many/most weekends at the KOC or even the VFW will probably be booked now since people are having communion parties and Confirmation parties. We booked ours in January and there was like nothing avaiable. You might want to do it in the Summer months.
