my fh didnt care about the dj/mc til we went to julykbride and he saw the mc rick from invitation to dance... i dont think he is availible.... so im looking for another Mc wth dj, that would be' fun, outgoing, making jokes etc.'.. after the wedding he said he was actually excited about planning part of the reception, so i really want to find one he would like.....
should we go to the expo's to hear dj/mc's in person? any reasonably priced ones 1500 or less... specific MC recommondations

I would definately check out some MCs in showcases.... I booked with High voltage sounds.. You tell them what you want and theyre really good with making you happy.. :o)

My FH hasn't really liked any DJ at any wed we went to- thought they were all to pushy- MAKING people get up and dance and he's not a dancer. My sis used In the Mood. After her wed we were talking. He ACTUALLY liked them. That ended my DJ search. Two weeks after her wed, we booked them too.

My FI loves our DJ, Let Us Entertain You. We met with Bill and Michael loved him so much that we spent 2 hours with him and when we left, he told me to send him the deposit.

we saw Tommy's Tunes at a showcase and they were great - didn't force anyone to dance, it just happened! They had a lot of personality. I'm not sure how much they charge though....we weren't looking for dj's so we didn't ask! But I would definitely recommend them based on that performance. Good luck!!!

We are using music by Michael. I know he is having a showcase in the beginning of October and we are both going as well as my parents. He is also very reasonable.

We're going with Music by Michael. We met with him yesterday and spent almost 2 hours with him and loved him! I had done plenty of research on him, but kept most of it to myself and let FH find out what I already knew from Michael. He was blown away and so happy with what he heard that he motioned to me to write a check right then and there - and we saw no other DJs before him. We knew that he was the one for us. I suppose you could go to a showcase with a bunch of DJs so you can determine what style you want or don't want and so he can see what each one has to offer. FH and I wanted none of the usual DJ stuff, which is precisely why we went to see Michael in the first place.
Go listen and see, ask questions, do research, get information ahead of time, know what kind of music you want and how you want it presented, etc. When you find the one, you'll know, as with any other vendor.

Michael is the MC. He's entirely computerized, so I don't think the need to have someone constantly spinning and changing CD's or records exists. He also has an assistant with him, so it's not like he's entirely alone.
Jen, I played around with it a little last night. I think he's really got the advantage over other DJs in that he can do no wrong if he does what we ask him to do. If we give no input, we're stuck with what we get. If we give him all the info we want him to have, he'll use it. Of course, I sat there listening to the sample CDs he gave us last night bawling my eyes out at 'Daddy's Little Girl,' even though it was only a snippet of the song!

OMG!!! We were doing the same thing yesterday. My dad cried through every song. So of course I start crying. We are bunch of cornballs in my family and cry when we are happy. But the cd sample is great tool for us.

I was so sold on his attitude, the online gadgets, the fact that it's computerized - no skipping and from other research I did.
Jann.. so very glad you were happy. He gets so excited when he talks about his work. It's almost funny to watch. Nice guy!!!
