Question about Physicals: For the doctors in the group

Called today to make an appt for a physical since I havent had one since before college... I dont know I thought it might be a good idea, nothing is wrong with me though, I feel fine.

So the receptionist said she would send me Quest Papers. (for labs)

What am I going to have to do?

I thought I was basically going to do the reg. blood pressure, height , weight etc.... What tests do I need to take???

DH just went for some tests and he went to Quest for bloodwork, urine and stool samples

That's probably what they're talking about

They took 3 vials, but they always check for my thyroid and my anemia. They also check the ratio of red & white blood cells. I dunno why though, I never asked.

Don't cancel it! It's good to get yourself checked regularly!

palebride is right. Don't cancel. It doesn't matter how young you are. You need to get a complete blood check every year.
Please go.

Don't be afraid of getting bloodwork done, if you have somebody who knows what they are doing it wont hurt at all I promise. I personally think it would be irresponsible of a doctor to clear someone medically without doing bloodwork, especially since its a new group and this doctor does not know you. If you get it done this time, you probably wont have to have it again for at least a year unless there is a problem.

It is important if you havent had bloodwork in a while to get it checked, there could be a problem that you dont even know you have that they wouldnt know without the blood work. One example: I had blood drawn for my work physical and they called me back in to tell me that my cholesterol was really high. I would have never known that, and I also found out that I had to have one of my vaccinations again because I was no longer immune.
