I'm looking to get married in September 2005 - when should I be booking my reception hall?

Re: Question About Receptions
The sooner the better I say! You have a lot of leeway...You can do a lot of 'shopping' until you find the perfect one. But why wait??! It's fun!

Re: Question About Receptions
IMO, the sooner the better. Since you have time, you can really research all the places you want to see and also the earlier you book you will get the prices of now or 2004 not 2005.

You still have plenty of time to book, but start looking now! Do some research, take your time to compare & contrast, and haggle!! Have fun!!!

I agree also. You have plenty of time to look at places, but the sooner the better. Also keep in mind what NYLisa said regarding prices.
Good Luck

Re: Question About Receptions
You have plenty of time, but if you want the best price, do it now. Places tend to raise their rates regularly.

Re: Question About Receptions
You definitely have plenty of time, but that's good because then you have more time to look around and find the one you want! Start looking and booking now/ things get booked quickly...

Re: Question About Receptions
You should definitely be booking it right now. Our weddings are around the same time and when we got to our catering hall, they told us that they were already booking December of 05. So I say don't wait, all that can be done sooner, defintely do it......JMO Nikki

Re: Question About Receptions
You should start looking, so that the hall you fall in love with is not booked already. And the earlier you go, you might still get 2004 prices.

Re: Question About Receptions
Thanks for all of the great advice. I was actually thinking of booking in May 2004 since my FH is an accountant and that would be the end of busy season but after hearing the advice I spoke with him and he's in complete agreement that we should start now. I just have to wait for him to sit for the exam this week and then we'll sit together, work up a budget and start making appointments. I'm going to go armed with several dates in mind.
Thanks so much!

Re: Question About Receptions
Definitely sooner is better. FH and I booked in June 2003 for our Jan 2005 wedding. Our hall gave us 2003 prices and did inform us that their prices were going up in 2004.

ASAP!!!! even though you have a lot of time to look for the perfect place for you, if you book early some places are willing to work with you more with the prices. i suggest book as early as possible. plus it gives you ample time to pay it off.

Re: Question About Receptions
I am also getting married in September 2005. I booked my reception hall last week. Lucky the day I wanted wasn't booked, but 2 other Saturdays for that month were.
I have to agree with the other ladies on the board...the sooner the better.
Good Luck!

Re: Question About Receptions
Long Island is tough. I totally freaked out when I found out my date was booked at the hall I wanted. That's why it's now a morning wedding and I booked over a year out!
Definately take your time and choose carefully but get out there!!!
