FH is driving me crazy! He doesn't clean anything, not a thing! We tried to solve this problem by hiring a cleaning lady, which has been great until recently. We canceled the cleaning lady in order to save the $200/month. I begged and pleaded for new bedroom furniture...FH said in order to get the new furniture we had to cancel the cleaning lady- wedding and brand new living room and bedroom- it just wasn't financially savvy to have both
anyway, im home all day cleaning -- thanks to my brilliant idea to take the cleaning ladys position lol, I hate cleaning!!!
FH thinks every woman out there keeps their home in tip top sparkly clean shape, all on their own with no help from the man...
So now for the question...
Does YOUR FH clean?

wow reading thru most of these makes me appreciate my FH way more
we do everything together. some things the other one does better so that's that person's responsibility.
I clean better than him b/c I was brought up by a crazy cleaning freak (=mommy) so I do most of it usually on Sundays when he's at work. But this is only the floor and bathroom cleaning (tho he is the that polishes the floor). any other sort of cleaning like book shelves, work stations, books or anything like that we do together at the same time. we actually have a project day where each gets a corner to work on.
laundry I do it cause I have OCD about it and only about this. everything has to be laundried and folded a certain way and then put in the closet a certain way, so I just dont let him do it. tho a few times when I didnt have time he did it just left the folding to me.
cooking is all him where I help with a few things. shopping we always do together xpt when he goes to buy a few necessities.
oh and only he washes dishes. I only do it if he makes me.
as I call it: we mess the place together and we tidy it together

He cleans his pots and pans while he's still cooking. When he goes away he HAS to unpack the second he gets home. Folds laundry right away. makes his bed every morning.
He's better then me sometimes.
That's MUCH better than me! hahah I always tell FH, I wish one of us was a neat freak because sometimes we just let it get too messy, especially our bedroom.
lol.. Poor FH gets it from his friends b/c of how he is. We were in AC this weekend and changed for the pool. He was folding his clothes he was wearing in a particular way. His friends messed it up and he had to do it all over again. Then we all took turns showing him how we folded clothes. He got mad lol.

I tried splitting the rooms- it worked for a day
I tried every other weekend, it never happened
and I tried the chore schedule, worked for a day lol
FH works full time too...but his job is much easier than mine...he 'works from 12-9' he goes into the office that is literally 2 minutes away at 12- comes home at 1...sits around the house until around 4/5 and works till about 8/ 830...
so its even more frustrating to see him sitting home all these hours and not helping!

feels good to not be alone...but feels worse to see that alot of you have FH who help--- be thankful ladies!!!

we try to split equally - he always vacuumed and does a great job. Now we have a Roomba, so he doesn't really need to do that.
He takes out the garbage, but sometimes we do it together if it's a lot.
I do the bathroom - it doesn't bother me!
Ever since we moved and don't have a dishwasher anymore, he has been complaining about doing the dishes!

We have the opposite problem....FH has OCD when it comes to cleaning...he is a cleaning freak!! A cleaning psycho!! Me, not so much. It is a constant source of arguing.
I dust all the rooms, and dust mop the floors and clean the bathroom everyweek, and do the laundry...FH does everything else....mops the floors, vacuums, constantly cleans the cabinets, stove, WASHES DISHES, cleans the stove.
May sound great...but it is kinda annoying because it is not cause he is doing it out of the goodness of hi s heart....he does it cause he thinks he does it better than me(which he does) AND HE LETS ME KNOW THIS ALL THE TIME!!

he does certain things, like dishes. he'd never vaccuum or clean the bathroom. If i asked him to vaccuum he would. But he'd refuse to clean the bathroom... let's just say the bathroom was not pretty before i moved in!

Yes, I think that is just like the 'Sicilian clean' which FH suffers from.
That must be the problem..I am only half italian so I only got half the Italian cleaning gene!!

more like only if i ask...or ONCE IN A WHILE he gets this blast of energy and will clean the bathroom or something. usually he just doesnt realize or care that its dirty...its like the last thing from his mind. drives me nuts...rant away!

i must say, i really lucked out here. FH keeps his place really clean. he does more cleaning than i do! we have a plan after the wedding to split the cleaning 50/50. ie. i fill the dishwasher, he empties it. i dust, he vacuums, i do the laundry, he folds and puts it away......
